Our custom Arnova 10 G2 firmware has been updated and now offers the following nice new features:

  • Android Market support
  • full root access, setup with SuperUser application
  • full write access to the system
  • faster storage using ext4 file system (we measured a improvement to read and write speed over ext3fs by 5 to 10%)
  • larger storage space for your applications (1 Gb, 970 Mb free after install)

Thanks to Steve (Ttz642t) for his work on our WIKI, Fenice57 and Finless which firmwares really contributed to the make…

Where is de download link please

Please, check the "Read the original blog post" button, read on Arctablet Blog or use the direct download link:

Hi Admin,

I have just bought the Arnova 10 G2 and so far it's a great machine. As I am a complete novice when it comes to tablets, it seems complicated to install the software for Android Market. Is there anywhere a good instruction for dummies like myself?

I hope you can help.

Thanks.

Marco,

Have a look at the following link to get simple explanations on how to install Android Market on your Arnova 10 G2, it's doable in less than 10 minutes and is done on the tablet alone, it does not require a computer.

If you have difficulties, you can always ask in the appropriate forum.

There are other options, such as the firmware listed in this post (see Read original blog post) or from other tablet sites but they are a little more complicated to install.

If you like our web site, applications and firmwares, feel free to support our site. Donations are used to pay the bills for our server hosting costs, development tools and purchase new tablets to support.

Dear Admin,

Thanks for the help, the link with instructions worked a charm.

Next up is the Amazone Kindle software problem but I will find the appropriate blog for this.

Many thanks,

Marco.

Kernel development is a little more advanced than manipulating firmware.  It is even more helpful when the source code for the stock kernel is available.  I'm not sure that it is, but others should feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.  I know there are online resources for "cooking" kernels, I just don't know anyone trying that on the Arnova 10 G2.

Hi and thank you for your efforts on this.

I'm currently trying to install this firmware.

I was expecting an Update.img file to select using the Rockchip tool but there is no such file in the arn10g2-23-20.zip file.

I tried selecting the System.img (logic told me that I wanted the largest file) but the Rockchip tool gives me an error "Load Firmware Failed".

I'm fairly confident that I have done the necessary prerequisites. The rockchip tool has a green "connected device" and also, it will happily load the Update.img of the official firmware that I downloaded in case something went wrong.

Any ideas?

Further to this. I have now successfully installed a completely different firmware, so I'm confident that the steps I have taken so far have been correct. I'm simply missing the actual firmware file (which as stated, I was expecting to be named Update.img) in the zip file.

Basically, you're not doing it correctly.  You need to unzip the file to a folder on your hard drive (remember the folder) and make sure your zip software preserves the folder structure of the compressed files.  You should end up with the following directory where you unzip the contents:

\drivers

\image

\Language

rk29update.exe

rkusbComm.dll

settings.ini

Once you have connected the Arnova in recovery mode, with the unit plugged in, connect the micro usb port on the tablet to the usb port on your computer, press and hold in the reset button with a paperclip or pin, and press and hold the volume up button.  Release the reset pin while continuing to hold the up button, then release the up button.  Your screen will remain dark, but your computer will indicate that it has found the device.  If you haven't yet installed the drivers, please look elsewhere on this blog and when you have done so, return here, otherwise.

Once the device is connected, run rk29update.exe.  If it reads across the bottom that the device is "found", press the lower right hand button to erase IDB.  Once you have erased the device, press what I recall was the lower left hand button to flash.  It will automatically load the firmware and flash it.  When you get an OK and the tablet reboots to recovery, you can disconnect it.

Harold, sounds to me like he is using the RKBatch tool which expects a update.img only?

I give you permission to use my readme text in my ROMs to share here since it works for many.  Saves you having to retype all that 🙂

Thanks, Bob. Frankly, that's exactly what I want to do. Will take care of that tomorrow (and credit you of course.)

Installed this and my Arnova 10 G2 runs much faster. Such an improvement in the load times so thanks for that.

But I have a couple of issues.

1) app market still doesnt get all the apps. I've tried the fix on this website but that doesnt work. I notice lots of people posting on that page that it hasn't worked for them so I'm wondering if the fix doesnt work on the new release of the app market? Can anyone help on this?

2) I can't seem to get accounts and sync to use my calendars. Does anyone know how to access this functionality or if it isnt on this firmware.

Thanks for your help!

I have gotten Business Calendar and Go Contacts to pick up the data synchronized with my Exchange Account.  The synchronization isn't reliable, and frequently I have to reconfigure my Exchange account to remove the \ it automatically puts in front of my login name to get a fresh synchronization.

FOn the other hand, synchronization with Google calendar and contacts happens automatically every time I sync Gmail.

This is a work in progress, it still need some tweaks and tests. We'll announce it on the Blog when it's ready.

You can also check MorkaMod firmware:

I have the firmware installed as well as Google Play for apps.  Most of the apps tell me my device is not supported.  When I am on Google Play from my PC it tells me I have not started Play from my device recently, even though I have.

I tried the Market Full Access Fix but it doesn't seem to resolve anything.  What am I missing to get this working properly?

Hi
I’ve just done this fix for my Arnova 10G2 4MB, and everything seemed to work fine.

However, if I ever actually use the Android Market to download an app, the download works great, but Market then immediately disappears again – and I’m back to square 1.

What have I done wrong? Why won’t this new firmware “stick”?
