hey Finless just wanted to let you know that i finally have my G2 singing! as I said earlier i could not get the arctools to work on the uunrooted firmware, I installed your custom rom as per the instructions. only problem i had was with windows 7 that would not let me manually install the drivers. After many attempts I finally had to transfer the driver onto a disk since that was the only way it would let me install it. Once that was accomplished it all went smooth. Then came the attempt to install the APK using arctools both the rooted and unrooted would not install after many attempts. As per your tips and liniks this is what happened.....I downloaded the files from Gerry's apps, unzipped them with the app from Mediafire you directed me to. I installed the suggested file manager on my G2, once complete i sync'ed with the computer and loaded the files to the sd card on the G2. I then used the filemanager and installed each in the order that was posted earlier. Bingo!!! I now have the full boat and all has been working great for the past 2 days. The only glitch so far is that I cannot get onto this website with Google. I had to load Firefox and is what i am doing now, I even have my usb keyboard working and is what I am using right now. So far so good sync'ed contacts, loaded security apps, mo ved files in the filemanager, and have installed/uninstalled apps over and over testing. The only thing thus far that I have noticed is the speed it was not superfast before but it seems to be a little slower and i have to keep moving apps to the sd because of limited memory. I am looking forward to maybe getting the ICS on its release. Any other ideas on how to speed it and is there a mobile security app that you would recommend? None the less thanks for all of your help, you have helped me turn my tablet into one that I can use with the ease of my iPhone without the cost. I had a 10" Superpad that I absolutely hated. Thanks, Paul

Harold, good to see you back with a working tablet Wink

To my knowledge, Arnova G2 devices currently does not have a full featured recovery like Clockwork on Android phones, so there is no possibility of running Nandroid backups.

Yup.  I seem to have remembered that (after my post) a little bit later.  No matter.  With Titanium, I'm pretty satisfied that I can keep backed up what I need.  Nandroids are more important if you're into frequent flashing (like I do on my Rezound and used to do on my Incredible).

Once we've loaded this firmware and utilized Arctools 0.57, any reason not to update arctools to .60?

Updating Arctools to 0.60 or 0.61 won't hurt, but you probably won't use it once the firmware and Market are installed and running.

I'm having troubles with market on this firmware(v1.1), it installs fine but when I open it, it just shows like 2 apps for category and even if i try to go on market in my pc and try to download it to my tablet, the download never arrives to the tablet. I tried to reflash the tablet with this firmware, i've tried with arctools 0.57 to 0.60 and it keeps happening the same thing. What could i do? Any help please?

I think the Arnova 10 G2 would be an ideal budget tablet for my needs when updated with the 1.3 ROM by Finless but i have a couple of questions.

Firstly is the v1.3 ROM compatable with both 4gb and 8gb models?

I understand there are lots of apps available in the market once the ROM has been flashed but could some kind person check to see if the following two are there as they are pretty critical to whether I will purchase or not:

Autoproxy (paid or lite)

Kids Place

Many Thanks

I'll let finless answer the inquiry about the 8gb model, but I have it running on my Philadelphia Newspapers' 4g.  I don't see why it wouldn't run on the 8gb.

I checked the Android Market on my tablet and I was able to see Autoproxy Lite and Kids Place, which would suggest that they can be downloaded and installed on the tablet.

Does anyone know the exact option to install the Market and Apps for this new 1.3 firmware?

This list of options from Arctools on Appslib has been slowly growing larger and larger and I have already tried the last option (3.4.4 root install) with no luck 🙁

Update: Looks like the first option "Default Apps & Market (Android 2.3)" was the one 😀

The Market and gapps were included with 1.3.

Sorry, my mistake. Looks like I am behind a firmware. I'm talking about the version that just got posted;

arn10g2-23-20.zip

It didn't have the GApps preinstalled though, are there two versions?
