How can I without the driver add the market. I crashed reset the whole thing but the market won't load. Maybe we can try to make this easier to install. Its good so far bob. But lets try to fix flash and I think Java is no good on the 10g2. Is there an update can't find one myself.

For Java and what not get a better browser.  I like Dolphin HD.  As for Flash install 10.3 not 11.x as 11 has problems on this Tab.

I am running dolphin HD and I still have the same probe. And I have flash is 10.3 was 10.2. No different I can see. Its the "toolbar" on the individual page. There supposed to sit still as I scroll , and they move with me. I think its Java that controlled these. I've tried everything I can think of. It has to be a bit deeper.

If you log in to android market via a browser then open a link to the app a few times eventually the android market app will work no matter wht version of arctools you use. I've done it on both now. I reset every thing fallowing the direction in previous posts. Then when it tab loads installed arctools from a SD card. Download, install. Reboot. Open mrket. When it ask you to sign in. Click the alternate. Sign in using browser. It'll then push you back to the app after sign in. Download dolphin HD. If market won't open again, go to market.android.com install an app. No maatter what it is pick one. Click install you should get a choice to open with browser, dolphin, and market. Click market. Oh make sure your signed in to market on the webpge before install. It should start working fine. If not, do it again. Mines a HSN 10g2 with bob-ware.

Hey Bob,

Not sure if its of any interest but theres a post in XDA about getting Flash 11.1 working on Tabs only compatible with 10.3 using a mixed 11.1 and 10.3 version.

I haven't had a change to install and test it. Maybe at the weekend if I find a spare minute 🙂

Help, i refuse to believe my nova won't work, it must be P.I.C.N.I.C.

i made a video of what i'm doing, why can't i get market working? I've tried Installing vending.apk separately, and does put a market app icon in the drawer but it exists to desktop straight away when you try to create/open an account.

any pointers as to what mistakes i'm making?

thanks

sorry for poor filming and editing just to get point across

Thanks for taking the time to make the video...

At first sight, I think the selected package in Arctools is the cause of the problem.

ArcTools 0.57 is not able to process the "root" package install, to use it you'd need version 0.60, that you can get from Appslib or Arctablet.com homepage.

Best option is probably to use Arctools default package, first in the list.

I am not sure if this works with finless's initial custom firmware from this forum topic or if it needs a later one:

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/arnova-10-g2-development-forum/new-arnova-10-g2-fully-rooted-firmware-now-available/#p1126

or even more recent.

Sorry about the difficulties with these programs and version firmware uses, I am working with finless to clean this up and have a single firmware + Arctools release that should work immediately.

Let us know how it goes.

ah ok, i'll try that later, after work, cheers.

the only one i never tried was 0.60, downloaded 0.56,0.57.0.58, from arctablet repository, tried them with no joy, just for "try it" sake. Just following the instructions from the readme.txt file and read on the forum 0.57 was the one to use.

cheers for the pointer.. 🙂

Pop_acute, well first off you are running my first ROM release.  If you read through the development post my first release had some issues with getting full ROOT access.  I quickly fixed that and released another one.  However back then I was not versioning the ROM so you could not tell which version you have.  By the looks of it you have my very first one which had some permission problems with /system.

So you need to download and use my 1.1 ROM.  On my boot screen you will see the version number on it.

Go to this blog post and scroll down.  Int he firmware download box is the 1.1 version:

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/arnova-10-g2-firmware/arnova-10-g2-improved-custom-firmware-update/page-11/#p3561

File name should be arn10g2-23-1_1.zip

With this ROM do not use Arctools 0.60 as it will fail to download the 3.4.4. Rooted install.  So use 0.57 like you have.  DO EVERYTHING just like you did in your video (3.4.4 Rooted Install) and it will install and put a market app in your app drawer.  This entire problem you are having is again because you did not download my updated ROM per the blog post.

I think this will fix you up.  However after running the market if you get "could not establish a connection" when trying to logon to your google account, this is a common problem people have.  Noting to do with my ROM.  You will need to read some of the posts here about clearing cache, etc to get the market to work if you have this problem.  Some have it and some it works first time..  It's seems to be 50/50.  Good luck.

Bob -

Just ran the install on my Philly Newspapers Arnova 10 G2.  I had tried to root on my prior tablet, but something was wrong with the memory and it became bricked.  This is the replacement unit and runs nicely, and now is rooted with all that marvelous space, Titanium backup, and JUST the apps I want on it.

Just curious, is it possible to run Nandroid backups from the recovery?

Thanks again!

Harold, good to see you back with a working tablet Wink

To my knowledge, Arnova G2 devices currently does not have a full featured recovery like Clockwork on Android phones, so there is no possibility of running Nandroid backups.
