Yes you have to install the Market using Arctools or the other ways posted here in this forum. Gmail will work but no contacts or syncing with Google without the Market installed.
- Will there be a (updated) rom for ICS or Honeycomb?
Possible..... But it wont happen without people doing work to make it happen. Many are hoping Arnova will do it but no firm answer. I am begining to doubt it from Arnova.
- Market is not that important, but I see that is working. 🙂
Again, you will need to have it installed to sync contacts etc with google to get full functionality with Google apps (calendar, contacts, etc).
- Do I need a SD-card to get this custom rom working?
Not required but I suggest it for backing up, etc.

what I did after installing arc tools and rebooting was;
. go to manage apps - search - market - click on it - follow setup, it should then be listed in your apps. Worked for me

Getting really frustrated now and about to go back to the boring stock firmware.
I followed the instructions in post 155. Installed ArcTools 0.57
Installed Default Tools & Market 3.4.4
Market not installed 
Tried the erase NAND and factry reset again
Still won't install Market.
Any Ideas? I really don't want to go boring old stock firmware but I will have to at this rate

Hi - So i have had problems installing via Arctools 57 so tried 60 and still wouldnt install.
Checking with ES Files explorer under System and app (after doing the rootless install) that the package (APK) had an error with it - Unable to parse error.
I am using the market etc by installing the excellent Finless rom (looking forward to an update) and using the install from another Post (how to install market without root). All works fine although I am on the old market, doesnt bother me much as everything else works with FC's etc.

I have tried to get apps working that user Superuser however it won't register on the superuser app. I have tried removing, reinstalling APK and updating direct from the market.
Can you confirm if this should be working, for example with ES File explorers root function or Battery History widgets Root access to clear battery stats.
Im also wondering if you can change the Wifi scan interval in the build.prop to 180 (i use this on my DHD too) as its saves battery more so 🙂
Final question, How long do you batteries last? I have used my Tab for 2 and a half days on and off and its used 40%. Which is very impressive considering my Desire HD lasts 24h max 😀

There is currently no Honeycomb firmware available for the 10G2. There are very early Android 4.0 ICS releases in the works, watch the Blog for some updates 😉

I have not tired ES file exploror but Root Explorer does cause superuser to pop up asking you to allow it to have access. When you click allow it does say it gets access. Same with Titanium Backup, etc. By the way, the superuser.apk I used just got outdated like 3 days ago. When you login to the Market it will tell you there is an update. However even before this update came out, it still worked for me.
If you are willing to test I can make you a custom boot.img with build.prop set to 180. you should only need to flash boot.img. Let me know.
As for battery, yes I leave mine on all the time and it is very good. However... read the sticky post about bugs. I guess some people have an issue with it waking up every so often for some reason. Mine does not do that unless an Email or some other notification comes in. I suspect it does this because of the IP lease time set in people wirless router? Just a guess? They also say it wakes up because a notification comes up about the SD card becoming unmounted. No clue there as to why some people see that. So since I do not have those issues, my battery lasts and last for days.

I just got my tablet yesterday and thanks to finless and everyone here, rooted it today.
I was able to download ES File Explorer from the amazon app store and used that to email myself copies of the apk files for the 3 Inquirer and Daily News apps.
Then, I followed the instructions on post 155. I had a brief hiccup, when my computer somehow renamed the system.img file to system (from "MyPC name").img. RK29Update couldn't see it and wouldn't run. Being an idiot, I unchecked the "system" box in RK29Update and ran it away. In case you're wondering, that totally bricks your tablet. 
So, I followed the instructions to flash back to stock, then pointed RK29Update to the correct file name and it worked great. I also used arc tools 0.57 and everything installed beautifully. I can now access all of my Market Apps

Hello Harold.
The reason everyone talks about the difference between Philly 10 g2 and the standard 10 g2 is as follows: You will lose your apps for the Philly Newspaper and the standard install apps that come with it. if you can down load those you should be fine "With login"
I just loaded this rom on my Philly 10 g2 without one single issue... was rather simple and very easy. have fun!

I have also just loaded my philly tablet with the new rom with no issues. Just follow the directions and it works well. I have the market minus the google apps but I dont need them. works great! Thanks Finless

Arctools update is in the works, so we have a more stable custom firmware with latest Android Market and Calendar. No release date though.

ok i must be having a constant brain fart,..but this firmware isnt working for me.. tried it several times now:
drivers installed
starting with stock rom from archos (update.img), installed using Rockchip_Batch_Tool_v1.4/RKBatchTool.exe
Then enter flash mode, then using arnova10g2_full_root_rom/RK29update.exe , erase idb, check the loader check box, then click run.
Once installed, clear nand, clear privacy settings, connect to wifi, install 0.57 arctools, using that to install default apps & market 3.4.4 (root install), reboot...
then there is no market intalled, went to manage apps, no market there to install or search for...
i have had arn10g2_market_gapps.img installed and market working and logged in.But i want this one, for the extra benifits.
what am i doing wrong?
sorry for asking this question , it's a bit repetitive i know, but i'm stuck.
