I tried it on my new Arnova 10b G2 and it will freeze and cycle on a calibration screen.  Now what could I do to reverse or get it going.

I believe the 10b is a resistive screen and thus the drivers for the screen are different and the screen wont work with my ROM!  However since your not bricked and it booted I could make a rooted ROM for you.  Do you have an update.img for the 10b?

Bob

I do not, there is not an update on the Arnova website to download.

If you haven't returned you Arnova 10b G2 yet, we may be able to help you when we have dumped the firmware for the device, so you can reflash it with Rockchip Tools ... I will let you know.

If you like our web site, applications and firmwares, feel free to support our site. Donations are used to pay the bills for our server hosting costs, development tools and purchase new tablets to support.

First of all thanks Finless, great job and great rom.

The only thing missing is calendar. I tryed with no luck to install "google calendar".

Here are the steps:

1)

Downloaded Stock-GRH78 update(pure 2.3.1 rom - same version of arnova 10 g2 os), extracted system.img, decompressed with unyaffs.

2)

I got 4 files from the decompressed folder "app":
-CalendarGoogle.apk

-CalendarGoogle.odex

-CalendarProvider.apk

-CalendarProvider.odex

3)

Copied the 4 files with root explorer to the tablet folder "system/app" and tryed to install.

After a few seconds appears the message "application not installed".

________________________________________________________________________________

What I'm doing wrong?

Please consider to put "google calendar" in the next rom release!

Keep up the good work!

Please read this post and download the calendars stuff.

If you do not have Market 4.3.3 rooted installed you will probably be missing the sync adapter.  So read this post carefully!

Hello, folks - kinda at my wits end here.   I suspect I am missing something very basic.

I downloaded the zip, got the driver installed, made sure the SD card is removed, ran the RK29Updater, did Erase IDB.

Now here is the part where I MIGHT have gone wrong:  The 'Flashing' part 4 says leave loader unchecked in one line, but next line says I can optionally check it, as 'both 2.06 and 2.08 work'.   So I checked it.   It flashed ok, I got the tablet to boot with the new splash screen.   In the apps, I see Superuser, and most of the original apps that came with G2 are gone.

I do Storage - NAND Erase, followed by Privacy - factory reset.

Then I connect to my WiFi, download/install/run ArcTools 0.57, select 'Default Apps and Market 3.4.4 (root install)', download.

When I   Click 'install apps', it takes about 0.1 seconds before it flashes a list of installed files, and tells me to reboot.   The listed installed files (sans paths) are:

com.google.android.maps.jar, libspeech.so, libinterstitial.so, libimageutils.so, libvoicesearch.so, libzxing.so, GoogleBackupTransport.apk, Talk.apk, GoogleServicesFramework.apk, NetworkLocation.apk, MediaUploader.apk, GenieWidget.apk, MarketUpdater.apk, GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk, GoogleFeedback.apk, Vending.apk, GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk.

Should Market.apk be in that list?   or is 'MarketUpdater' it?   The point is, once I reboot the tablet, there is NO Market anywhere.   Not in the apps drawer, not in the 'manage apps' settings, Not in 'Storage Use'.

I went through this thread carefully, and I think I followed the procedure precisely.    With one exception of checking 'loader' in the RK updater.

I tried downloading Market-3.4.4.apk, and it installed, but trying to launch it gives me: 'You must add an account to continue, want to add one now?' and clicking either yes or no exits back to home screen...

Any ideas?   Thanks!

It doesn't show up in that list but MarketUpdater does which you say is there ... I just want to make sure you are definitely using ArcTools 0.57 (as the one you download from AppsLib is 0.60).

Personally I checked Loader & that you are using 1.1 (when you turn off and on Finless' boot up screen should state it is 1.1)

If that is all done then I would suggest

----

1) In ArcTools 0.57

1 a) Click "Remove Apps"

1 b) Click "Select All"

1 c) Click "Remove Selected"

1 d) Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications (select All on the top) > Uninstall  Market (if it is there)

1 e) Do a complete shut down (on off button)

2) Now for the (step 4 above)

2 a) Settings > Storage > Erase NAND flash

2 b) Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset (this will turn it all off and restart the machine)

(now go back to steps 5 onwards)

—–

5) Setup Wi-Fi

6) Installed ArcTool v0.57

Link Here : /blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/com.arctablet.arctools057.apk

7) Used ArcTools to install "Default Apps & Market 3.4.4 (root Install)

8) Turned off & on

9) Loaded Market app and added account

10) Downloaded my new APPS! 🙂

Cant see why you are doing this step after flashing.

I do Storage – NAND Erase, followed by Privacy – factory reset. Why are you doing this step after flashing the firmware and letting it reboot?

Any time I have done it after the v 1.1 Bob Finless firmware has rebooted, I have installed Arctools 0.57 and selected Default Apps & Market 3.4.4 (root Install).

Than rebooted again to reveal the Market icon in the app drawer.

Try flashing again and follow my steps

@damo

If you don't do the ERASE and Privacy the Market will occasionally not show all of the apps and only show like 10 or so

On re-reading the thread, 'ware behavior looks like I am on version 1.0, not 1.1, which is mighty weird since the .zip file I downloaded ends with -1_1.  Surprised  I will try to re-download and re-flash tonight.

I'm really sorry for posting here, but I have some questions about your custom firmware.

I'm thinking of buying an Arnova 10 G2 (8GB) this week, and I want to put a custom rom on it.

My questions:

  • Can I use Gmail/Agenda apps with this custom rom?
  • Will there be a (updated) rom for ICS or Honeycomb?
  • Market is not that important, but I see that is working. 🙂
  • Do I need a SD-card to get this custom rom working?

Thanks, and really hope you can answer my questions.

If I need to send a PM/or post in an other topic, please let me know.

Thanks again.
