Hi
I am new to all this - have bought my daughter a Arnova 10 G2 and would like to install the Android Market instead of or as well as Appslib - but dont really understand how to go about it - have watched some of the install videos on YouTube etc but still a little wary - could this damage or make the tab unusable?? I have managed to install the Skype app which can be used but only for voice calls and not Video (would like her to be able to use video calls) so if anyone could tell me how and if I can get this tab to run a video call option on Skype that would be great - Wait in anticipation of your help!

I have the same query and have not had any answers to my queries. It would appear that the Arnova 10G2 tablet is not recognised as an Android device by Google so even if you do go to the Android Market it will not allow you to download anything. Skype also does not recognise this device so no video calling available as it doesn't 'see' the camera. From the tech talk in the forums it is obvious that people have been able to circumvent these obstructions but impossible for non linux programmers to understand what they are talking about! Perhaps one of the experts would care to post a plain English way to obtain apps from the Android Market? What is this root business that keeps being mentioned? Then how do you push things around? Windows seems so simple to navigate after this Linux experience!

With regards to installing the Android Market on your daughters tablet this can be done either by installing a custom firmware, the best one currently available in the excellent Bob Finless firmware v1.1. or by installing some files onto your tablet and this uses the original firmware that is already on your  tablet.

Custom Firmware:Â /blog/archos-tablet/arnova-10-g2-improved-custom-firmware-root-app-space/
Â
Please read carefully and follow the steps to the letter and you should be okay. When you download the firmware there is a read me file created by Bob. Follow this and everything should work 100%

By installing files onto your tablet with original firmware:Â

To start once you do get the Android Market installed on your tablet it is recognised by Google as an android device and you can download to it via the installed market app or through a web browser on your tablet.
Â
Skype current version does not function properly but you can video call through Google + and other users have video called through Yahoo messenger.
Â
Although Android is based on Linux it is nothing like it, I have Linux installed along side Windows 8 and believe me it is a lot easier to navigate than Android. Get File Expert to navigate in my opinion the best way to navigate around the folders etc on your device, the bulit in file manager is very limited.
Â
As for root or rooting, it is allows to to gain full control of your system files (that are on an original firmware are hidden) so that you can alter system files for purposes of making custom firmwares, running apps that can control mostly every aspect of your system and many other things.

The link no longer works, however downloadedApp from elsewhere. http://www.freewarelovers.com/android/download/opinions-on-teclast-p90hdmp/1310068173_Skype_2.0.0.47.apk
Uninstalled Skype from 10 G2 and installed Skype_2.0.0.47.apk.
I used both methods - from PC & direct install.
Still cannot get video to work.
Any more hints or tips would be greatly appreciated as the reason why I bought the 10 G2 in the first place was to video call home when I work away.
