Anyone already tried out what the results are if you flash a 10G2 with the complete 10BG3 ROM?
According to the device specs, there are not that many differences, wifi has n, NAND has higher class and 1GB RAM instead of 512 MB RAM. I also downloaded the kernel sources and found out Arnova implemented some checks on RAM size, so what I think is that the kernel of the G3 series, is an optimized version, as there are some typo's being fixed and comments removed.
Since the CPU's are both RK2918, same screensize, I think it should be no problem to fully flash the G3 files on the old G2 device.
I have not tested it yet, but was wondering, maybe someone did and could share their experience?
I tried flashing a 10b G3 firmware on my 10 G2 as soon as I had made a firmware dump of the 10b G3 Unfortunately, it did not boot, just a black screen if I remember right, nothing in adb logcat. I also tried some ICS system images with the 10 G2 Linux 2.6 kernel, no joy (a Linux 3.0 kernel is required).
Another difference between the Arnova 10 G2 and 10b G3 is the touchscreen (digitizer).
