ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery easy install for RK3066 and RK3188 -- TWRP/CWM Flash-Tool and root for RK3288
Please donate to support OMA and CrewRKTablets firmware work, thank you !
The recovery package have been updated.
On Onda tablets running recent firmwares (V3.2.x, V3.3.x or newer) you must use the Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) package. Packages have been built by Christian Troy, thanks to him. In ArcTools, select "TWRP Recovery 2.6.0.0 for Onda VXXX (built by Christian Troy / slatedroid.com)" (XXX being your tablet model). More details here |
I've included a new feature in ArcTools to facilitate ClockworkMod (CWM) and TWRP Recovery installation.
This should work on most Allwinner A31 tablets and was tested successfully on the Onda V972 and V812.
A rooted firmware is required, you can download one our forum sections for V972 and V812.
Download latest ArcTools here: com.arctablet.arctools.apk
The procedure may not work if you have modified your device signature in build.prop, I'll eventually correct that in the future.
The video below shows the whole process of installing CWM Recovery on the Onda V972, then installing back the stock Recovery. It works the same with TWRP Recovery.
I currently don't have time to write a complete tutorial, help is welcome if anyone wants to give a hand please post in this topic
Update 2013/04/16:
- Updated CWM Recovery with new image compatible with 32 GB storage tablets (recovery built by aberigle htcmania.com)
- Added TWRP Recovery build by ankar84
More details about TWRP:
TWRP based on lastest 2.4.4.0 for Onda V972 by ankar84

This procedure uses CWM Recovery image image built by hariprasadiit on XDA, thanks a lot to him.

hi, admin,
lots of thanks for the new v1.33 kasty ROM for v972!
i got an issue with the ArcTools here - i did as you showed that on your video, 1st installed the CWM and that worked well, but installing the 2nd tool (AFAIS that is "Stock recovery (v1.33) for ...") couldn't set
It says "error 28: cannot create temporary directory; Error 20: File copy failed"
thus installation failed. rebooting didn't help
Or maybe i don't need to install Stock recovery as far as i have CMW here, am i right?
Thanks for everything you do )

The video shows going back to stock recovery, but this is just an example, you surely don't need to install it if you're happy with CWM. I'm away from my tablets right now, but I'll have a look at the errors your mentioned in a few days.
Cheers.

Hey Hello Arc,
I just wanted to ask is the cwm the same from xda or did you mod it? Reason why I ask is because cwm will not allow external_sd to mounted, there for we can nand backup to sd or anything else. I believe its possible to fix the corrupted partition error that everyone is getting if we had a cleaner cwm recovery, but dont know anyone that is good with that sorta thing. Let me know what you think. Thanks
The CWM Recovery I used is the exact same build by hariprasadiit on XDA as I mentioned in post #1.
Cheers.

You should be able to fix your tablet by downloading the firmware for your device (see here for Onda V972) and flash the firmware using PhoenixSuit

Thanks Admin for your revert!
However now the Phoenix suit doesn't recognize the device and the status is no device connected. In adb devices it shows as recovery 24***** as the device.
Lately its stuck on the 4-core logo itself.
Please advice & help
Thanks
I've justed update CWM Recovery with a new version, which is also compatible with Allwinner A31 tablets having 32 GB of storage space.
CWM Recovery for Onda V972 built by aberigle (htcmania.com)
This recovery should work on other Allwinner A31 based tablets (Onda V812, V813, V973...)
I'll also post TWRP recovery updates later today.
Cheers.
