Hi there, I need help.

I got an almost new 10G2 running on gingerbread and decided to install the EZ firmware in order to access the market.

after downloading Arctools, selecting firmware, selecting the correct one, checking the disclaimer box and hitting download I get this:

"error 95 ‚Äď firmware file copy failed. archive file cannot be accessed. please check that your device is not mounted on a usb"

my device is not plugged into anything so I'm at a loss.

I must admit I'm not hugely tech savvy (average 40yr old trial and error type learner) but I cant see that I've done anything other than follow the simple instructions to this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (UK based so may be time lag in replies)

p.s while blundering about randomly pressing things to 'investigate' the issue, I went into the internal memory and noticed a Kasty-ez zip file. pressing it gave me options to 'complete action with'. I chose 'using package installer' and I got: 'parse error. there is a problem parsing the packaging'. I have no idea if this is significant as i dont know what a parse is

excuse my ignorance, cheers.

Hey bev, I feel your frustration. Sadly, I posted my plea for help 3 weeks ago and yours is the 1st reply. I resolved my problem by taking my good for nothing, non Google, half-a-job, piece of shit Arnova 10 G2 back to the shop and got a nice shiny new Google Nexus7 tablet. Far superior for just a little more cash, full play store as standard, latest 'jelly bean', OS. Brilliant.
I wish you luck in your endeavours Bev but you won't get any help on here in my experience. Adios Amiga.

Well, if downloading the firmware thru Arctools is giving troubles, you can also download the file manually. Just find the firmware page for your device selecting your tablet in the "Tablets" top menu.

Then download the firmware from the custom firmware page, extract update.img file from the zip and copy it to the root of your tablet, root being the top level directory you see on the tablet main storage when you mount it thru USB.

Cheers.

The thing is that it doesn't make sense for us/you to write just a "We don't know." Not all the things can be manipulated/fixed by us and well, I don't have an idea why arctools came up with the error you mentioned. In most of the cases, for most users, it just works. Sometimes it doesn't. We always offer a more complex flashing method with RKBatchTools, which you could also have tried. It just takes a little bit longer. Don't forget that we do all this in our free time and well, we don't always have it.

Anyways, have fun with the Nexus 7, it should be quite cool. Wink

Activity at last! Sorry guys, didn't mean any offence as you obviously do this for free in your spare time. As I say, I was just frustrated by the complete lack of any type of response to my issue. I was at a complete loss and felt as though I had no other choice than to return the device, which in retrospect was a good thing so thanks for not replying Wink
If nothing else, my last post has at least provoked a response and hopefully Bev can get around her issue. Cheers.

I've down loaded Arctools and tried the EZ firmware 3 times and when my 10 G2 reboots and does the firmware update it boots back with the original apps. This time I use the EZ firmware (test) selection and on reboot I have SuperUser in my Apps.

Right now I'm watching Netflix and have Google Play.

My Arnova 10G2 is now an awesome tablet.Wink

I was receiving the same Error 95, so I tried the EZ firmware (test), and on reboot, I'm dead in the water.  Received the Arnova screen, frozen, and now won't boot at all. No response from the power button, no response with the USB connected.  Battery is not dead. I have the original firmware on the micro SD, but can't get the tablet to respond at all.  So I'm bricked. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem, but as another poster said, i just downloaded the file and copied it to root and now its all working (as it should be out of the box i might add!)

Thanks for all of your hard work in making this firmware, without it this tab is pretty useless.
