On root issues, obviously no on-the-fly rooting methods work, like KingRoot etc. I can only hope that the admins of the site would devote some time on this smartphone and come up with a rooting method that actually works. I can also hope that when this happens, the lagging issues would go away, if they are caused by some app the phone came with.
