Doesn't anyone in this forum have the problem that the usb drivers from the rockchip tool (v1.5, v1.6) fails to install??

I tried it on Win7x64, Win8x64, Vistax32, XP-SP3:

- I set the Arc80Ti in flashmode

- i plugged it to usb port

- device manager shows "ARCHOS" then i point to the drivers from rockchip tool

- I force install cause there is so direct support

- then drivers install but device cannot be started (yellow mark)

Please help someone!

You should be able to upload files with the instructions here:

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/arctablet-website/uploading-imagesfiles-on-the-forum/

Still, I think I have this file, I'll post the MD5 to compare with yours and make sure I have the same.

The problem is nobody in arctablet team owns a Titanium so we can't "run" the update.zip to build a new custom firmware, and we'd need to a dump from a machine where the update was applied.

Another option is to run the update.zip from tablet flashed with our custom firmware, that should work, maybe using OTA Root keeper.

Cheers.

Yes, maintaining the root would become easier to dump the firmware via adb

I managed to upload the update file here if anyone is interested.

I am currently using the kasty-titanium80-41-test1.zip flashed with Rockchip Batch Tool.

Can I run the update.zip on top of the kasty-titanium80-41-test1.zip and keep root?

the firmware can be dumped also using Linux, so if some of you have knowledge in Linux, i can provide a tutorial

I'am on linux mint 14 so I will have a go. Post the tutorials if you can please.

You need first to adb on your linux machine
then lsusb
then add the udev rules
restart
after that reboot the tablet in bootloader mode (flashing mode)
adb reboot bootloader

There was a step here, but i don`t remeber it :) from which you where able to find the cmd line
CMDLINE: console=ttyFIQ0 androidboot.console=ttyFIQ0 init=/init initrd=0x62000000,0x00800000 mtdparts=rk29xxnand:0x00002000@0x00002000(misc),0x00004000@0x00004000(kernel),0x00008000@0x00008000(boot),0x00008000@0x00010000(recovery),0x000C0000@0x00018000(backup),0x00040000@0x000D8000(cache),0x00002000@0x00118000(kpanic),0x000E0000@0x0011A000(system),-@0x001FA000(userdata)

After which i used

sudo ./rkflashtool r 0x0011A000 0x000E0000 > /tmp/system.loop
sudo ./rkflashtool r 0x00008000 0x00008000 > /tmp/boot.loop
sudo ./rkflashtool r 0x00010000 0x00008000 > /tmp/recovery.loop
sudo ./rkflashtool r 0x00018000 0x000C0000 > /tmp/backup.loop

It was a long night then, i don`t remember some steps :)
But i think it should work directly
To check if you dumped right, just mount the system in linux.

just cant dump this firmware. adb reboot bootloader fine to bootloader but not sure what else to type from here on.

CMDLINE: console=ttyFIQ0 androidboot.console=ttyFIQ0 init=/init initrd=0x62000000,0x00800000 mtdparts=rk29xxnand:0x00002000@0x00002000(misc),0x00004000@0x00004000(kernel),0x00008000@0x00008000(boot),0x00008000@0x00010000(recovery),0x000C0000@0x00018000(backup),0x00040000@0x000D8000(cache),0x00002000@0x00118000(kpanic),0x000E0000@0x0011A000(system),-@0x001FA000(userdata)

keep coming back with - syntax error near unexpected token `('

To put my Tablet into flash mode I have to follow the official how-to:

"Press&hold the vol down button and connect the power cable."

Strange - maybe there are different hardware versions? I bought my one in germany 1 week ago.

My problem of drivers not working still persists... Still help requested!

This should be right now, i added new lines.

Install adb

CONFIGURE THE USB
-type in terminal
lsusb
glob@glob-M720-US3:~/WORKING_DIRECTORY$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 046d:08ce Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Pro 5000
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 050d:935a Belkin Components F6D4050 N150 Enhanced Wireless Network Adapter v1000 [Ralink RT2870]
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0e79:1455 Archos, Inc.
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 045e:0745 Microsoft Corp. Nano Transceiver v1.0 for Bluetooth

As you can see there is a line named Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0e79:1455 Archos, Inc.
Retain only the line 0e79 which is the vendor id.
gksudo gedit /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules
a file will pop up and add this line
#Archos
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="0e79", MODE="0666"
Save and then:
sudo chmod a+r /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rule

Now go to the Home directory and press CTRL H and search for the folder .android, go there and open adb_usb.ini and add
0x0e79
Save the file
Restart the computer and check in terminal

glob@glob-M720-US3:~/WORKING_DIRECTORY$ adb devices
List of devices attached
0123456789ABCDEFÂ Â Â device

Install libusb-1.0-0-dev
sudo apt-get install libusb-1.0-0-dev

after that reboot the tablet in bootloader mode (flashing mode)

adb reboot bootloader

Read the partition information for your Titanium
sudo ./rkflashtool r 0x0000 0x2000 > /tmp/param

In the param file you will find the numbers that i used bellow (at least these where on the firmware that i had)

sudo ./rkflashtool r 0x0011A000 0x000E0000 > /tmp/system.loop
sudo ./rkflashtool r 0x00008000 0x00008000 > /tmp/boot.loop
sudo ./rkflashtool r 0x00010000 0x00008000 > /tmp/recovery.loop
sudo ./rkflashtool r 0x00018000 0x000C0000 > /tmp/backup.loop

I hope that i got all the steps now.
Of course you need to use some common sense because i can not tell you for example that you need to cd in the rkflastool folder.

Finally i managed to install the rooted firmware from the above link.

I wanted a root acces cause I want to modify some system files to get Ad-hoc Wifi connections work. But all the custom "wpa_supplicant" files I could find in the net make the wlan to don't work anymore at all. :-(

Is there someone working on rooting the new updated firmware from ftp://support.archos.com? Could the one integrate the Ad-hoc Wlan (also called "wifi direct") feature in the firmware?

I need it to connect the tab to a nokia phone's WEP hotspot (joikuspot premium).

Peter,

Have you tried to apply the ARCHOS update on the rooted firmware as I suggested in a previous post ?

Cheers.

Make a titanium backup and give it a try  In the worse can, you'll just have to reflash the rooted firmware.
