Is this the updated firmware or the old one? I heard the new firmware fixed the wifi issues. Thanks for the hard work :)

Edit: I thought saving the update.img to the root of the internal storage of the tablet would prompt an update. Anybody tried this? Is there a restore tool for bricked devices?

The firmware which i replied in the last post is the firmware for the Archos 80 Titanium, which is rooted and must be flashed with Rockchip Batch tools.
I have already given you the details on how to do it in the last post.

If you want the last firmware rooted for the Archos Cobalt check this topic

I was referring to the Titanium firmware update which fixes wifi issues. I have sold my Cobalt and will get a Titanium tomorrow when the shops open :)

I bought my 80 titanium on at carphone warehouse on Thursday for £99 and when I setup it up it said there was a firmware update available, so I did update the firmware so this must be what gx3k is talking about.

Now globula_neagra was your rooted firmware done before the update are after?

On the Archos website there is no firmware, if you have firmware that you used to update your tablet, please upload`it somewhere.
The 80 Titanium that i had was not rooted, i managed to dump the firmware from tablet, and then admin built a rooted firmware based on my dump.

This is what I was talking about, the firmware update when you first open the tablet. If the root was based on a dump made after the update, then maybe it's already the latest version. I am planning to also get one from Carphone Warehouse tomorrow for £99 :) A group thread for Titanium 80 users would be great with all the information in one place.

Once you accept the update and agree, The tablet automatically reboot and install new firmware and delete the update.zip. The only way to try and save it might be the next person on here who buys one is to connect it to the PC and copy it before you press install if you can find where it save the tmp update.zip.

You need first to adb on your linux machine
then lsusb
then add the udev rules
restart
after that reboot the tablet in bootloader mode (flashing mode)
adb reboot bootloader

There was a step here, but i don`t remeber it :) from which you where able to find the cmd line
CMDLINE: console=ttyFIQ0 androidboot.console=ttyFIQ0 init=/init initrd=0x62000000,0x00800000 mtdparts=rk29xxnand:0x00002000@0x00002000(misc),0x00004000@0x00004000(kernel),0x00008000@0x00008000(boot),0x00008000@0x00010000(recovery),0x000C0000@0x00018000(backup),0x00040000@0x000D8000(cache),0x00002000@0x00118000(kpanic),0x000E0000@0x0011A000(system),-@0x001FA000(userdata)

After which i used

sudo ./rkflashtool r 0x0011A000 0x000E0000 > /tmp/system.loop
sudo ./rkflashtool r 0x00008000 0x00008000 > /tmp/boot.loop
sudo ./rkflashtool r 0x00010000 0x00008000 > /tmp/recovery.loop
sudo ./rkflashtool r 0x00018000 0x000C0000 > /tmp/backup.loop

It was a long night then, i don`t remember some steps :)
But i think it should work directly
To check if you dumped right, just mount the system in linux.

You should be able to upload files with the instructions here:

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/arctablet-website/uploading-imagesfiles-on-the-forum/

Still, I think I have this file, I'll post the MD5 to compare with yours and make sure I have the same.

The problem is nobody in arctablet team owns a Titanium so we can't "run" the update.zip to build a new custom firmware, and we'd need to a dump from a machine where the update was applied.

Another option is to run the update.zip from tablet flashed with our custom firmware, that should work, maybe using OTA Root keeper.

Cheers.
