Epic Games has just released "Citadel" a real-time demonstration on Android to show their Unreal 3 graphic engine capabilities. This latest version features amazing visuals and special effects such as realistic reflections, animations vertex deformation, realistic lighting and shadows. The Citadel demo also features a benchmark mode, that lets you adjust the rendering resolution percentage and the quality settings, it shows the number of frames per seconds (FPS) to render a few scene of the demo.

ARCHOS 97 Titanium HD vs Onda V 972

Citadel demo appears to be a good opportunity to do some real-world benchmarks on the [[** please register to see this link **]] quad-core CPU tablet.

The benchmarks below were executed with the same settings on both machines (High quality rendering and HD mode 2048x1440 resolution scaled at 100%)

Benchmark results of 42.8 FPS on the Onda V972 vs 25.2 FPS on the ARCHOS 97 Titanium HD, show the limits of the "old" Rockchip RK3066 / Mali 400 GPU (ARCHOS Titanium) over the Boxchip Allwinner A31 quad-core processor on the Onda V972.

ONDA V972

9.7 inches IPS retina like display 2048x1536 pixels, Allwinner A31 quad-core CPU,2 GB RAM, Android 4.1, Dual camera
Ships out within 3 days$ 220

We'll try to post more benchmarks…

Difference between 25FPS and 43FPS is not so big. You can see bigger diffrence if old Rk3066 will have 15FPS and Onda will have 25 FPS. In any case 25FPS is more than anough for most usage.

Btw i make this test on my old SmartQ T20 with OMAP4460 1280x720 screen and it shown 30FPS. So i think rk3066 not so "old".

I have one question, my Archos Titanium HD flickering when in Display HD Mode especially when run OpenGL games, this problem is known? I imagine that's issue is firmware issue, it's real?

Finally a really good test :) here are also some results from Mali 400 MP4 and RK 3066

What we can say from this is that Resolution doesn't matter much in Framerates for the RK 3066 :)

it might be getting to hot and or some framebuffer issue because of the forced High Resolution ;)

Newer more optimized firmware should fix this :)

That is a huge difference

@Admin

You should add Unity Shadowgun Deadzone Mulitplayer to the test platform it's very tasking on all components and is more Real Life oriented then Epics Benchmark also Dead Trigger is still a very good overall test.

Also could you please add a Mobile GPU Mark ?

PS: Wee need some Exynos 4412 results now :D
