Admin makes please a RAM leakage test in HD mode.
Run Settings - Apps - Runnig. At down you must see RAM. Ok. Then press to notify panel (where is clock, wifi and so located) open it, close it, open it close it, several times, perhaps 30-40 times. Do you have see that RAM is coming to zero and stay at 0 bytes?

Admin does MX Player work in HD Mode or does it stay black screen when trying to playback something ?
And how does the situation looks over the HDMI in HD Mode ?
When analyzing Archos Framework their Player doesn't support a Hardware Overlay so the whole video has to be rescaled by the GPU to the native resolution.
The Memcopy operations even on a SOC is quiet tasking especially in such a OS environment, you also have to take the system bandwith into account
MX Player supports without Problems a Hardware Overlay though im not sure if the RockChip Decoder can buildup such a massive Overlay Resolution as needed here
Archos aren't the only ones that have to Fight with these things also Ramos and their WHD30 has these Video Playback issues their it is reported that the Player displays even only a Black Screen
So in those Regards Archos does better with Displaying anything @ all even if it's a Slideshow currently
It would be also no real surprise that the whole Interface trembles here , there are only 2 Cores that have to feed also the GPU and the Mali 400 has to massively render everything over surfaceflinger with Project Butter @ a very damn high resolution.
The Exynos has it much easier here with 4 A9 Cores compared to the RK3066 with 2 A9 Cores and the Cortex A15 inside the Nexus 10 is a powerhouse itself (google has it relatively easy to optimize)
Im sure Archos Engineers are working on how to optimize the GUI Render Performance with RockChip, you have a early test sample right ?
For me the Render Performance looks like i would say max 40 fps and lowest seems around 14 fps, install FPS Meter and check how much you reach
Im not really sure if customers will accept that Performance in HD Mode and thus why Archos made the Resolution switch possible they know it exactly
I love it to Develop for Android it needs so much Skill todo great unique exciting stuff it's by far easy

I've just done a quick test, starting from a fresh reboot with no specific apps started.
Settings / Apps / Running shows 396 MB free at first.
I did a bunch of open/close on the notification area, the memory was going down and coming back up, it ended at 365 MB after about 30 open/close At lowest I had 342 MB.
I'll later try to compare with other HD tablets like Cube U9GT5 with different firmwares.
Cheers.

I tried MX Player (version 1.7.10) actually the same 1080p "Sintel" movie plays almost fine with it, there is very little frame drop in hardware decoding mode. In software decoding, it's probably worse than the stock (Archos) video player, lots of frame skipped. The device I am testing is a retail product I brought from the shop, not an engineering sample...
I'll try to do more tests soon.
Cheers.

Ugh! Looks like this firmware free from RAM bug! Maybe you can dump firmware from tablet, so we will try in install it to others retinas?

I hope that Archos firmware would solve the problem with lack of RAM - tuned firmware. I own Yuandao N90 FHD - same hardware as Cube U9GTV and this Archos.

On X900, the DANERICK ROM (as with Lunatic and Metrobleach) lag more than the official X900, plus the microphone does not work.
