unfortunately both rkandroidtool and rkbatchtool don't recognize the tablet, although I have successfully installed the drivers: (
That means that you are doing something wrong

Installed driver on my notebook (cpu amd 64bit) with windows 7. The os correctly recognize the tablet as "rockchip device" (or something,i can't remember right now) when i put it in bootloader mode. I've tried to put in bootloader mode in 2 ways: button combination and through adb reboot bootloader...but, like said earlier, both androidtool and batchtool don't recognize any device.
Am i doing something wrong?
EDIT: i've fixed up: i've used winXP with a virtual machine

this is my way:
max windows volume
turn off tablet
connect usb cable
press and hold both volume down and power in ~5-7 seconds
listen the windows speaker: connection sound
wait 2 seconds.
release 2 buttons.
check the sign of tool
if fail, retry several times.
good luck.
my laptop: windows 7 64b, core i5.
i use usb 2.0 port.
i think 2.0 is better than 3.0
-------
is there any one success?
p/s: you should install "battery saver pro" to save your battery.

As I said before, you are doing something wrong.
You can not install the drivers before getting the tablet in flashing mode.
I think that you enabled the usb debug thinking that is the actual flashing mode, and you installed the ADB drivers and when you entered the adb command (fastboot reboot bootloader), the tablet entered in the actual flashing mode where you where supposed to use the driver files that are supplied with the rockchip batch tool, you used the ADB ones, therefore, device unrecognized and drivers not installed.

Hello folks,
Newcomer to the Archos Titanium 80 here, but long-time user and hacker of various Android tablets.
Thanks DayLaNickDeNho for the useful tips. I shall try this ASAP, since I've already installed CWM Recovery to a RK3066-based tablet, that shouldn't be too difficult. Your nandroid backup will certainly come up handy in case of a disaster, thanks again for sharing.
I have a quick question though: would you please elaborate on the reason why this CWM Recovery wouldn't be able to install a complete firmware in the usual zip format it? What kind of limitation does it have that would prevent this? I'd assume that if it can restore a nandroid backup, it should be able to install an update.zip as well shoudn't it?
Greets to you all.
