I'm just a normal user. Therefore, I can only do this way. This way is not easy, but at least I can help you can get 1 custom ROM.

CWM for rockchip: http://androtab.info/clockworkmod/rockchip/

for archos titanium 80: http://files.androtab.info/rockchip/rk3066/20130427/RK30GENERIC_CWM.zip

attract file recovery.img

use RKAndroidTool to flash recovery (i used Rockchip_Batch_Tool_v1.6 before, so i had driver installed)

flash only 1 file: recovery.img

turn off tablet

connect USB cable

hold Volume - ; hold Power

wait ~5 seconds

release power

release volume -

1.jpgImage Enlarger

download CWM Backup :

part1: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwFuhFqPwuEWVUp2MEQzVHZTdmM/edit?usp=sharing

part2: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwFuhFqPwuEWZVkzM2ljc0J4RVU/edit?usp=sharing

extract to SD CARD

like path:      E:\clockworkmod\backup\2013-05-30.04.26.18

insert SD Card to tablet

------------

boot recovery:

hold Volume - ; hold Power

wait ~7 seconds

release power

release volume -

use volume +/- to up/down

use power to select

wipe all

restore from extenal sd card

select and restore

--------------

"Backup rom" base on Stock Rom (25-1-2013):

-rooted

-remove system apps

-optimize build.prop

-add init.d script

-add titanium backup

-add king user to manage root access permission (select left button to accept root when need - button without countdonw)

---------------

I'm just a normal user. Therefore, I can only do this way. This way is not easy, but at least I can help you can get 1 custom ROM.

--------------

this version CWM is not perfect, so i can't create flashable zip ROM.

Installed driver on my notebook (cpu amd 64bit) with windows 7. The os correctly recognize the tablet as "rockchip device" (or something,i can't remember right now) when i put it in bootloader mode. I've tried to put in bootloader mode in 2 ways: button combination and through adb reboot bootloader...but, like said earlier, both androidtool and batchtool don't recognize any device.
Am i doing something wrong?

EDIT: i've fixed up: i've used winXP with a virtual machine

this is my way:
max windows volume :D
turn off tablet
connect usb cable
press and hold both volume down and power in ~5-7 seconds
listen the windows speaker: connection sound
wait 2 seconds.
release 2 buttons.
check the sign of tool

if fail, retry several times.
good luck.

my laptop: windows 7 64b, core i5.
i use usb 2.0 port.
i think 2.0 is better than 3.0

-------
is there any one success?

p/s: you should install "battery saver pro" to save your battery.

What steps did you do wrong? I think the point is not important. tablet running well is important. you should install the "battery saver pro" to save battery life.
bug: can not create new google account.

uses exist accout is ok.

As I said before, you are doing something wrong.
You can not install the drivers before getting the tablet in flashing mode.
I think that you enabled the usb debug thinking that is the actual flashing mode, and you installed the ADB drivers and when you entered the adb command (fastboot reboot bootloader), the tablet entered in the actual flashing mode where you where supposed to use the driver files that are supplied with the rockchip batch tool, you used the ADB ones, therefore, device unrecognized and drivers not installed.

Nice. I wonder if theres's a way to improve battery life and wifi signal a bit.

Saw a video on youtube where batery calibration in a root archos titanium makes a difference, at least in stand by mode.

WiFi signal and battery life are my only complains about this tablet.

Hello folks,

Newcomer to the Archos Titanium 80 here, but long-time user and hacker of various Android tablets.

Thanks DayLaNickDeNho for the useful tips. I shall try this ASAP, since I've already installed CWM Recovery to a RK3066-based tablet, that shouldn't be too difficult. Your nandroid backup will certainly come up handy in case of a disaster, thanks again for sharing.

I have a quick question though: would you please elaborate on the reason why this CWM Recovery wouldn't be able to install a complete firmware in the usual zip format it? What kind of limitation does it have that would prevent this? I'd assume that if it can restore a nandroid backup, it should be able to install an update.zip as well shoudn't it?

Greets to you all.
