I am hoping that someone here can help me with an issue I am having with my partners 101 Titanium tablet, it turned into a brick recently, and I have managed to restore it, but it now only has 2gb of internal storage, which I think is being caused by it having the wrong parameter file flashed on it, and I was hoping that someone might be able to pulll an original with rkflashtools for me to do a comparision.

Here is as brief a description as possible of what has occured.

My partner had been using her tablet in the morning, and then went out leaving it on and plugged in, when we got back it was sat there, with the screen lighting up and going off again, after attempting the usual, reset button, holding the power button etc, realized it was bricked so went looking for a solution and came across the unbrick thread on the site here.

Unfortunately, in reading the guide I miss understood the guide, and when it came to the part that involved flashing the boot.img and recovery.img, I thought it meant to tick all the boxes, not just boot.img and recovery.img, which I did and flashed.

The tablet did boot up okay, and after some build.prop edits to correct screen density etc all seemed well, till my partner tried to install any apps, basically anything that went to the nand flash vanashed after a reboot, so I went to work again, and have now managed to get the tablet back to its original boot.img, recovery.img, and running the latest update from archos. and it is perfectly other than the fact that it is now only showing up 2gb of internal storage as being availible, and nothing I have tried so far has enabled access to the missing user space.

Any help that can be offered to fix this one last issue would be very gratefully recieved, with my hope being that once that is resolved I can upload a guide for people on how to restore the 101 back to factory conditions from a brick

My thanks for your time

Well I have managed to get thinks into a reasonable state now, with it showing 6.29GB of internal space, which I think is somewhere about right.

I have put together an RKBatchTool update.img which I am testing out, atm which willl restore the tablet with what I believe is the latest update from archos, rooted with superuser. So far all seems to be fine apart from a nonresponse error from the settings process on first boot, but it doesn't seem to cause any issues.

I will do some more flashes first and test it a bit further, and so long as nothing shows up that could be an issue, I will upload it so that people have a way to get their tablets to a working state if they have an issue. However, if someone could pull and post the original partition paramaters that would be a massive help to ensure I have things set right.

As it stands I am using the following in the parameters file

0x00002000@0x00002000(misc),

0x00004000@0x00004000(kernel),

0x00008000@0x00008000(boot),

0x00008000@0x00010000(recovery),

0x000c0000@0x00018000(backup),

0x00040000@0x000d8000(cache),

0x00002000@0x00118000(kpanic),

0x00100000@0x0011a000(system),

-@0x0021a000(userdata)

If you can see anything that I definitely have wrong, then please let me know.

Glad you got fixed thantos Smile

Hopefully someone with a stock firmware can do the following in an adb shell.

root@android:/ # cat /proc/mtd

It should output something like: (here on a Cube U23GTC4-W):

cat /proc/mtd
dev: size erasesize name
mtd0: 00400000 00004000 "misc"
mtd1: 00800000 00004000 "kernel"
mtd2: 01000000 00004000 "boot"
mtd3: 02000000 00004000 "recovery"
mtd4: 04000000 00004000 "backup"
mtd5: 08000000 00004000 "cache"
mtd6: 100000000 00004000 "userdata"
mtd7: 00400000 00004000 "kpanic"
mtd8: 20000000 00004000 "system"
mtd9: 2a8400000 00004000 "user"

That will hopefully help rebuilding a stock like parameter file.

Cheers.

Well I haven't been able to able to get a RKBatchTool update.img to work correctly as of yet (new to using these kinds of update.img so have probably set some parameter wrong somewhere.)

However have put together an RKAndriodTool that is intended to be as user friendly as possible (just extract, run the tool and flash basically).

If people are interested I am happy to upload the package for people, what you end up with is the latest firmware from ARCHOS, v 20130129.170819 rooted with superuser, and 6.29GB of total internal storage

My fiancee has been using the tablet for a few days now without any issues and I have made multiple flashes to see if any issues arose and nothing has cropped up as of yet.

Here is my repack of the latest archos 101 ti firmware in an RKAndroidtools compatible format.

To use, download and extract the folder to wherever you like, naviget to the folder and run the RKAndriodTool.exe

Next place your tablet into flashing mode by holding down the volume - and power button together, inserting the usb cable, and then releasing the volume- and power buttons, and then insert the power cable

If you haven't installed them in the past windows will start looking for drivers, I have included these in the package, just install as you would any other driver.

If done correctly the tablet screen will remain off, but you will see the words "Found RKAndroid Loader Rock Usb" along the bottom of the RKAndriodTool

Ensure that there is a tick in the parameter, misc, kernel, boot, recovery and system boxes.

now click Erase "NAND (IDB)" button, once that has finished, then click the "Flash ROM" button

Tablet will restart after the flash has completed, the first boot will take a couple of minutes but you will then be greeted with the archos setup program.

This will leave you tablet running the stock recovery with the Archos v 20130129.170819 rooted with superuser, and 6.29GB of total internal storage.

You should note that this package may contain the wrong Parameters so it may not show the original values for the user space, but as it has an 8GB nand flash that also contains the system cache etc, I believe it is somewhere close.

As always, this is done entirely at your own risk, I will not be responsible for any devices that get brick, catch fire, cause nuclear holocausts or open the gates of hell underneath your house.

Glad you found it of help Odji, I did consider opening a new thread for it, but was unsure whether there would be enough interest to warrant a whole new thread.

I suggest that you go for it, it's a more general topic than just the parameter file Wink

I'll add a mirror of your firmware file to the topic as well.

Cheers.
