I don't know whether there is some interest in it, but on 4pda there are various ROMs available from Biecpi:

Don't know whether there is animo for an english instruction, but for those that are interested it should be also doable with Google Translate.

Do you think this roms should also work on the Archos 50 platinum? Except for the the battery and screen size, the other hardware is exactly the same (even the screen resolution).

I think that it iwll work if you use the kernel from 50 Platinum. However, I do not know for sure, so make a backup first before trying out.

+1 I have a 50 platinum and I would love to update it considering archos as usual stop updating their products after 1/2 little updates.
