I tried to install the ADB Driver on my Archos 97 Platinum HD on Windows XP. I had downloaded theĀ

ArchosĀ Archos ADB USB Driver for Windows (ftp://support.archos.com), but when i tried to install

it on my Windows XP, I got stucked... when I selected the .inf file, it shows an error like "TheĀ

descriptor file doesn't contain information about your device".

I'd asked for the drivers on Archos official site, but I was replied that currently the drivers for the

Archos 97 Platinum HD weren't available.

So, following the instructions on this topic:

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/archos-97-carbon/archos-97-carbon-usb-driver-support-solution-provided/

I decided to give it a try and to change the configuration of the android_winusb.inf file.

So, in the Hardware Administrator Menu (under Control Panel --> System --> Hardware),Ā

I located my Archos Tablet (remember to enable USB debug on the tablet), which appeared as a

unknown device called 'Android', right clicked and select Properties in the menu, and enter into the

tab 'Details'.

In that tab Details, I found the device instance identificator:

USB\VID_0E79&PID_14D8

So, I edited the android_winusb.inf and added above the ";Archos Gen9" section the following lines:

;Archos 97 Platinum

%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0E79&PID_14D8
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0E79&PID_14D8&MI_01

Then i retried to install the driver, and the installation was perfect, without any error.

I plugged via USB my tablet to the PC, and then checked that the tablet was recognized by the

ADB using adb devices:

C:\Documents and Settings\nombre>adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
