I own one (the one with Android OS v2.2.1 onto, modem : A70S2).

If you need, I can test it or provide lots of technical informations.

I really wish the Google Play market on this tablet.

I am nearly for 100% sure that Gen8 Arctools method should also work with 70b it2, because the firmwares are very similar. You can try and let us know. 😉

Thank you for your advice.

1. I am a bit afraid because I don't know how to go back if something goes wrong.

2. I have never used ArcTools, and have no idea the way it works (ie: modified files). Please do you have a link to web page that explains that ?

You can check Arctools tutorial here: http://www.arctablet.com/blog/archos-tablet/tutorial-using-arctools-google-apps-and-market-installer-for-archos-gen8-internet-tablet-101-70-43-32-28/

It's a bit outdated for the screenshots and videos but it works the same.

Arctools on Archos Gen8 devices like your 70b IT2 (Android 2.2 Froyo model)  does not do anything dangerous and just copies files to special locations. You can reverse it or remote it if you don't like it, and can "Reset Android" if you really want to erase everything.

I downloaded Arctools v0.66 from Appslib market.

However there is 3 lines of choices :

- Default Apps & Market v3.0.26

- Default Apps & Market v3.3.4

- Default Apps & Market v2.2.7

I installed v3.3.4 then rebooted the tablet. Nothing appears (perhaps I had to click <download> a second time, bofore to click <install apps>).

However, my question is : what line should I select ? (the OS of my tablet is v2.2.1). Thank you.

Leave the default selection in the Apps list should be fine, Android Market should self-update to latest Google Play automatically anyway. You need to Install Apps after downloading them as explained in the tutorial.

Thank you for your help !. For your information the v3.3.4 was installed (see me previous message).
I had "Android Market" app for 1 day, then it automatically updated to "Google Play Store" v3.5.19    It still works since 4 days 🙂

Notes for others owners of Archos 70b IT2 :
- I have not yet installed the Google apps (Flash,Gmail,Maps,Youtube) with Arctools. Some of them were already present on my tablet (Youtube v1.1 and Flash v10.1.105.7).
- The version of my tablet : "Version du logiciel: 2.4.83 (Android 2.2.1)".
- "Version du matériel: A70S2-V3".

The youtube app you get pre-installed with the tablet is developed by Archos(actually it is just a browser navigating to m.youtube.com), the version Arctools offers is developed by Google and is different.

If we left the default choice in the Apps rundown ought to be fine, Android Market ought to overhaul toward oneself to most recent Google Play consequently in any case. You have to Install Apps in the wake of downloading them as clarified in the excercise.
