============ Tutorial ===============
1) Unzip the CWM-Gamepad.zip file
(you maybe need to use 7-zip, someone had experienced problems with flashing, and was fixed by using 7-zip. I used 7-zip to make the zip file)
2) Run the RKAndroidTool app in the CWM folder (don't change any setting, check the settings in the attached picture).
3) Connect your tablet with USB cable in Flashmode: switch it off, and connect it while you hold the VOL- & Vol + button.
If Windows doesn't find the drivers, they're packaged in the "Drivers" folder of the CWM file.
4) Now the RKAndroidTool should recognize your tablet. Click on "Flash ROM".
5) The tablet will restart in CWM after the flashing.
6) done, now you can make backup's and restore them.
The backup will only backup the system/data & cache files son the boot.img & recovery.img does not work.
The same I mentioned about the backup is for the restore, only system/data and cache partitions are restored.
Start CWM recovery menu:Â
Switch gamepad off and turn it on by holding Power & Vol - (release power button after a few second because the gamepad will turn of when holding it to long)
It can be a little difficult to enter the recovery menu the first time but after a few tries you'll get the hang of it.
CWM Menu:
- go through menu options: vol +/- Â or gamepad Up/Down
- Enter menu option: power button
Tip (power button does not enter menu option):
I found out that the first time I used the CWM the power button did not work to enter the menu:
but if you switch Vol + & Vol - & Vol + fast after each other while standing on the option "reboot system now" you get a message saying "Back menu button enable" ( you switch to the options "reboot system now"and "Advanced")Â
I only had to do this once the next time I booted it remembered the setting, don't know where it's saved.
What will work in this CWM:
- Backup of the system/data and cache partitions
- Restore of the system/data and cache partitions
- Advanced restore of individual system/data and cache partitions
-Â Restore a backup made with "online nandroid backup" backup app

- Loading zip files from internal & external SDCard
- wipe data/factory reset
will update these when I tested more settings.
Things to do:
- find out why files are named system.ext.tar and system.ext.tar.a

All credits goes to Christian Troy (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=1237780) for making the original CWM I used to modify for the gamepad. Please don't bother him with questions about the CWM I repacked with the modifications for the gamepad.
Also thanks to Wendel for his flash tool
I take no responsible for any devices that result in a bricked device, although I don't think it will happen because of the good feedback that user report, but it is your own choice if you try this tutorial

Hi, i tried to flash CWM but a strange things appeared. When i do the flash, my tablet flashes the recovery properly, but after that my tablet seems dead, that is to say, remains in flash-mode. RK recognise the tablet, but i can't do anything, nor boot into the system neither do something else. Shall I forgot something or some requirements? Pls help me... (Sorry for my bad english, i'm italian)

Maybe the files you extract are not properly downloaded/extracted.. try using 7-zip. Check the settings in the pictures if the selected files are the same in the RKtool
or
Try flashing the attached recovery files, the first one "recovery-troy.zip" is the first one created by a guy named christiaan troy it does not work properly but at least it has to show you a CWM menu (most options does not work that's why I modified some setting, the one you tried"
The second file is the original recovery from the Archos firmware but be aware!!! when you flash that one your gamepad will be completly wiped to factory defaults all apps/setting made by you are gone, believe me .. I've been there

Thanks for the help, i flashed the rooted firmware and now the tablet works well. I'll try your solution now!Â
EDIT: i extract the zip with 7-zip and the flash worked properly, thanks!
glad that your gamepad is fixed now, I'll add a line to my tutorial about 7-zip and that I'm not responsible for bricked gamepads  lol
cheers

Hi and thanks for your tutorial !
Unfortunately, it doesn't work for me ...
It behaves exactly the same as Frizzycola :
Flash works but the tablet stays in flashmode : no way to get out of it.
If i flash back with the original Archos image, it works, but neither Troy's or your image are able to get out of the flashmode on my tablet.
As suggested, i tried to unzip with 7zip, I even tried to download again ... no success ...
Any idea ?

It can not be, because on other people is working
Try to use the usb ports from the back of the pc unit in any flashing.
Use quality usb cables (htc,samsung,sony)

I'm trying it via laptop. Unfortunatelly, in my PC is older driver(for RK2808) and i'm not able to find him to uninstall.
EDIT: Ok, i tried it via another PC(USB from back) and same result.
EDIT2: Moreover, after flash Archos_recovery.img tablet works, so, problem is in cwm_recovery(or in tablet - new rev., etc.).
EDIT3: EUREKA! I tried cwm.img from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2102679
and it works. (please, don't beat me if i broke the rules...)
