Batch tool not required
I have not seen this posted for the game pad so I thought I would put it here. I can not for the life of me get my computer to recognize any drivers for the gamepad so I am unable to apply the rooted firmware. So I got desperate last night and started trying all kinds of crazy things. Well I bricked my device last night and have tried everything to bring it back to life.
So what i did after alot of trial and error, I downloaded the stock firmware from Archos. Since I could not use the batch installer to recover, I had to put the device into the stock recovery mode by holding down volume +/- along with the power button. Hold the buttons down until you see the the archos splash screen then it will go to the android with a red triangle and exclamation over it. I had to push the volume and power button randomly to get into recovery but it works. Just try some button combos until you get it. Make sure to have the factory image on your external sd card(you will not have any other options if you are bricked anyways). Put the card into the device and select update "rkimage from external storage". This will flash your device back to complete stock with no issues. If this has been posted else where i apologize but I felt it should be directly in the gamepad forum for people like me who often screw things up by tinkering to damn much.
I have purposely soft bricked my device twice to confirm it can be recovered multiple times. You might need to do a factory and cache wipe if you get an installation error the first time. Just wipe and reboot then try again. Both times I have recovered back to stock.
Update : Well I finally achieved root. It was definitely a combo of finding the right USB port on the right computer. I don't know what it is but windows is very finicky with the drivers for this thing.
The following users say thank you to biggdd1234 for this useful post:MrAndreV
first of all i want to thank you for the information above because mi device was bricked and after you info i was able to unbrick the gamepad.
i think i can help you with the problem you have, oyur computer does not recognize the device, so try this...
connect the gamepad to the computer (usb) DO NOT DISCONNECT, the gamepad will always turn on even if the gamepad is off wen connected to the pc.
wait until its on.
now turn of the gamepad completely, and DO NOT REMOVE THE USB CABLE FROM THE GAMEPAD!
run the Rockchip_Batch_Tool_v1.5 and load the rooted firmware image.
now, with the usb connected, do the thing with the volume + - and the power button at the same time so it goes to recovery mode.
now if every thing goes well your computer will recognize the gamepad.
if it asks for a driver, use the one in the Rockchip_Batch_Tool_v1.5 directory for your O.S.
NOTE> im using windows XP SP3, and i connect directly to de pc without any usb hubs.
it is important to never disconnect the USB cable!!!
If this thing works, tell me how it goes...
