Hi,
I want to share some results to get more performance out of the gamepad, I noticed that a lot of memory is given to apps I don't need. I bought the gamepad mainly for gaming so I did the following to get more free memory, cpu and hopefully more battery life out of it.
First I installed "Rom toolbox Pro" to easily edit the build.prop and the possibility to freeze applications (there are free apps available to do this but I prefer rom toolbox because it a great tool)
to be save I did not change too many options in the build.prop because it can possibly brick the gamepad.
Maybe we can share some result to get more out of our gamepad and mainly more battery life because there must be a batterydrain somewhere because I think it can be better.
I think my Gpad is working smoother after these modification.
build.prop tweaks
debug.performance.tuning=1
video.accelerate.hw=1
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=60
frozen apps:
Calendar
archos music
archos remote server
archos video
calculator
chrome
contacts
email
exchange services
gmail
google play movies
google play magazines
google play music
google search
google+
google contacts sync
movie studio
picasa uploader
streetview
tags
Talk
talkback
some strange app with chinese letters
removed programs:
Google maps
NOT TO DO:Â
zipalin ALL your apk's with romtoolbox because the gamepad will not boot after this and you need to re-flash the firmware loosing all your settings.
grtz.

you cannot zipalign because the firmware is not deodoxed.
I read on a french forum that some users got better game performance by removing the mapping tool.
I wonder if anyone has done such tests yet ?

How do they use the hardware buttons then? From my experience, not all emus&games
"see" the buttons on their own.
Perhaps someone can test the gamekeyboard app instead of the Archos Mapping tool?

You can also freeze or deletePhone.apk
TelephonyProvider.apk
cause you don't need them on a tablet.
The 2 performance build.prop tweaks (debug.performance... and video.accelerate...) are useless afaik.
thanks for the reply (was out for a couple of day and didn't had time to reply) I thought the build.prop settings made the touch responsiveness better it worked on my phone so I added them on the gamepad, maybe It feels now better because I've froozen a lot of apps
will freeze the phone apk'sÂ

For further improvement you can clean up/remove the startup apps. You can restore themagain if you want at a later time (the apps still work, but they are not loading automatically at startup).
I did this successfully with "LBE Security Master".
thanks I'll look into that, going to see what apps are started at boot time.
