After some tries and testing I'm Proud to announce my first Custom Gamepad Rom:
Sigmax-JFG (just for Gaming) - Full Wipe !!!
Not a very fancy high end Rom but at least a clean one and my first Android cooking...
so why did I build it? I bought the gamepad just for gaming but the default rom has lots of extra apps I don't need
so I tried to remove all the apps that can be removed without getting FC's (forced closed) therefore some google apps
remain that you need to let the gamepad work without FC's.
There is more memory available so that's nice and if you want the archos apps back then flash the extra Archos-app-pack.zip
or if you want the multimedia apps back install the Multimedia-app-pack.zip with CWM.
Important:
Rom is a FULL WIPE all userdata will be delete and you need CWM to flash the rom (follow the tutorial to install the CWM recovery image):
http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/archos-gamepad/tutorial-flash-cwm-clockworkmod-5-5-on-archos-gamepad/
- Full Wipe
- Removed lots of applications
- build.prop tweaks
- zipalign-ed apk's
- Hosts file edited with ad-blocker entries
- Changed bootscreen
- Changed Background
- added apps: (because there are great and very usefull)
romtoolbox
directory bind
ES File explorer
Antutu benchmark
- Updated the following apps:
Googleplay
Gmail
Archos gamepad mapping tool
Rom Donwload Link:

Extra app packs: (Flash with CWM)

Multimedia-app-pack (contains the removed multimedia apps)

I have been used around with stock firmware (rooted firmware) and played Wild Blood game. Somtime Archos Gamepad lags, slow response. Then, also I disable a few functions in ROM and reboot device, well done, I can enjoy the game with smooth than before.
So, with your ROM, have you try with Wild Blood game? It's very heavy load for Archos Gamepad, this game will run well on your ROM?
Sorry, my English not good, if I'm wrong, please correct my.
Thank you very much!

I have not tried Wildblood with my rom only with stock (root) one and indeed encountered the same problem that you had and by freezing some apps wildblood played much better. I think it would be the same experience because I remove most of the apps I froze with the stock rom.
When I have time I'll try it but first I'm gonna take a little vacation. But you may try it and let me know how it when't if you install CWM you can easily make a backup and restore if you don't like it.

Hi sigma.nl, thank you very much for quickly respond!
After flash your ROM, I can feel my device wokr better than stock ROM. About play Wild Blood, I also have been played around and smooth, that's amazing.
But, still lag when I return HOME. So, I re-checked and see the stock launcher has problem, it's always heavy load, replacement by NOVA launcher, wow => good.

Nice to read you like it, when I'm back from vacation I'll look into the lag problem too.
Nice to know that my first custom rom ever is working like it should be.
cheers

Flashed and definetely approved ! Thanks you so much for your custom rom ! It's working very well despite this crappy battery !..Now i need to find a seller in europe to try the Hailrazer's battery mod :/
Thanks !
I do need to find a battery in europe (i'm from the netherlands) want to try the mod too.
and when my gamepad is open I will also put in a nes keypad
found only this one so far but's from china
Well, maybe it's a good time for planning a group buy
Feel free to create a separate forum topic to check for other users interested in buying batteries, the number of units and users location...
Cheers.

I successfully installed the CWM as described in the tutorial here.
Unfortunately I am not able to flash your Custom Rom, I always
get the "error mounting /sdcard" message.
I put the zip file on the micro SD card, but CWM does not recognise the card
and it does not matter if it is formatted as FAT32 or exFAT.
What am I doing wrong here?
I had the rooted firmware installed before I tried this.

Don't know exactly what's wrong but the Rom file should be placed on a fat partitioned microsdcard (external_sd in a booted gamepad), Boot into CWM and choose:
[install zip from sdcard]
[choose zip from sdcard] (you should see the files from your (external) microsdcard.
[selected the file and install]
if you familiar with CWM you should be aware of the following, the EMMC and SDcard are changed:
EMMC is the internal SDcard from the device
SDCard is the external microsdcard
I had to change these to get CMW working.
In CWM under [Mount and Storage] you can try to mount sdcard manually, you cannot mount EMMC from this menu the option does not work.
Hope this info will help you getting the rom installed, perhaps you can try a other microsdcard (Different manufacturer)
used Recovery Fstab in CWM:
# mount point fstype device [device2]
/system ext4 /dev/block/mtdblock8
/data ext4 /dev/block/mtdblock9
/cache ext4 /dev/block/mtdblock6
/emmc datamedia /dev/null
#/emmc vfat /dev/block/mtdblock10
/sdcard vfat /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 /dev/block/mmcblk0
/sd-ext auto /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
#/recovery mtd recovery
#/boot mtd boot
#/misc mtd recovery

@sigma.nl
Thanks for the fast answer.
I formatted the microSD card again and I was able to flash your custom rom. However,
while booting now the Gamepad only shows the "Archos logo" (not the animated one) and stays there. ;-(
Update:
The battery was drown, so after charging everything seems to be working now.
Thank you very much for the custom rom build!

Hi,
Thanks for the rom, But i have one problem i cant download chrome any more it says its not compatible any ideas?
Thanks
see first post I've added chrome.apk so you can download it and manually install.
Don't know why it can't be downloaded through google play most of the time it due to build.prop
devicename modifications but I didn't do that. Maybe it's missing an app but don't know which one.
