Ok, thank you for your answers, I feel reassured! But, as I said, being with a blue square, I tried many times to restore with the firmware archos, or custom firmware, and even "update", but nothing Actually, it never worked! they are then a particular method? And also, do I try to install directly customfirmware or the better is the Archos firmware before attempting the rooter? (If this is possible in my case ....?) Thank you again! I'm looking forward to Sunday to return it ... And thank you for the tip of the credit card, I'll have to try this sooner... :/

Use the switch option when you see a blue square
Use a good quality usb cable

The custom firmware is nothing else different than the stock beside the root and the bigger space for apps, so it will not matter wich one you flash.

I feel very silly ...

While trying to fix my tablet I had a stupid accident. Opening the case I broke the cable strip of the power switch. I guess I'll try soldering wires individually. I really dont know.

Does anyone know if I can get a replacement??

Thanks a lot

It would maybe be easier/safer for you to just solder the wires for the Power button and leave the rest alone, you should be able to control the volume in software.

I broke the same cable!!! Although at a different place of the strip (at the power button soldering point).

I REALLY hope that I find a replacement cable or someone (in Germany) who can fix that. CryYell

So, do you found a solution to the problem?

I emailed Archos, but I received no feedback (it has been 3 days now).

hey guys,

i would like to say that after i bricked my first gamepad and sent it to archos, i got a replacement and finally managed to root it phew here is how i did it.

number one do not update to the new firmware before rooting because thats wat i did at first then i bricked my gamepad, as soon as u get your gamepad try rooting it first becasue thats wat i did and i didnt experience any problems.

now my gamepad is rooted i can now move my apps and games to my 32GB memory card as that was the main reason why i wanted to root my device Laugh

thankyou to admin and everyone who has given advice on rooting this gamepad Cool
