Hi there im new to the forum and was just wondering how the archos gamepad stacks up im also newish to android and rooting etc my first questions are:
Will i be able to save games to an microsd card as the internal memory is quite small?
Can this device be rooted and what are the benefits?
How are the controls? Are they laggy with certain games, are they good with high end games like modern combat and also ps1,gba,n64 etc emulators .
Is the device quick? does the dualcore processor do a good job of keeping gaming and menu navigation smooth.
How would it compare to this: (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JXD-S7800-7-Quad-Core-Android-4-2-Tablet-Game-Pad-3-Console-Player-IPS-3G-WiFi-/281196870419?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item4178a3bb13)
I hope to get a reply as i am excited to buy one as there cheap at £105 and would rather get this instead of a cheap Chinese thing even though the specs lower. i know people will say wait for the gamepad 2 but cant afford it at £189.
To me, the ARCHOS GamePad 1 is not worth buying, unless it gets sold really cheap (under $80)
It's dual core CPU is now quite outdated, it has very limited battery life, still running Android 4.1 and hasn't been updated by the manufacturer (and yet unpatched), there is currently no chance for it to be supported by independent developers due to lack of help from the manufacturer. Also, the game controls were quite criticized by gamers as not being very ergonomic.
The S7800 (a or b models) look quite interesting, and seem to be a good alternative to the Archos GamePad2 for a lower price.
