Well I finally got my hands on the Archos Gamepad, and willing to try the root Smile

But: Rockchip Batch Tool 1.5 won’t find any connected device: The squares all stay grey.

After pressing the three buttons (vol+/-/power), the Device Manager finds a new device.

For the driver I point it to

Rockchip_Batch_Tool_v1.5 RockusbDriver amd64 win7

Sometimes it installs as “Archos” under “Portable Devices”

Other times it installs as “RK30 Device” under “Class for rockusb devices”

Either way it does not get recognized by the Rockchip Batch Tool (grey squares).

Removing the driver with USBDeview makes no difference.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

I am using the supplied USB cable.

Windows 7 64bit

Device:

Android version 4.1.1

Kernel version 3.0.8+

Build number

RK30_ANDROID4.1.1-SDK-v1.00.00

V1.0.29.JRO03H.20121220.155836

make shure the tab is powered down.

then push vol up/down in the middle and power

the rk30 device will be under usb devices.

hey guys,

i would like to say that after i bricked my first gamepad and sent it to archos, i got a replacement and finally managed to root it phew here is how i did it.

number one do not update to the new firmware before rooting because thats wat i did at first then i bricked my gamepad, as soon as u get your gamepad try rooting it first becasue thats wat i did and i didnt experience any problems.

now my gamepad is rooted i can now move my apps and games to my 32GB memory card as that was the main reason why i wanted to root my device Laugh

thanks to admin and everyone who has given advice on rooting this gamepad Cool

I thought tampering with the item voids the warranty so how did you send it back to archos as they would know? I need to send mine off as it's causing me problems and wont turn on half the time.

Hello Guys,

everythings worked fine. got the archos gamepad based on the latest Firmware.
Root works even fine.

big problem is the assignment from the sdcard.

that means normal data explorer shows everythings fine.
copy without any problems between internal and external save.

But -> if i open any data manager it shows me following paths

/sdcard -> Internal data
/storage/sdcard0 -> should be the sdcard

BUT the problem is the mounting point gets the same information and end up in /sdcard

Problem is i got many apps and like final fantasy III i can copy the files to use /sdcard/Android/obb

this works fine but it should be also possible to put they into the "real" sdcard (got a HTC Wildfire S it works without problem these files are sdcard files)

Any ideas, workarounds or hints?

thanks

p.s. ive searched many forums and big problems are maybe jelly bean with the "multi user" feature.

I had the same issue , but for now , you can browse your external SD card using any file manager , but 1st go to "mnt" directory , then you can find SDCARD 2 ,which is the external SD CARD  :))

maybe next time ,they try to fix it !

Update about my problem with Rockchip batch tool not finding a device:

You should use a USB2.0 port and NOT a USB3.0 port

I made a fresh Windows7 install, but this made no difference, but as soon as I used a USB2.0 port the batch tool found the device and the grey box turned green.

Thanks to everybody!

does anyone know , if we can just put that rooted.img in the root of the internal SDCARD and the ARCHOS gamepad finds it automatically and flashes it , as if we are using an original firmware update method ?
