Hello all,

Just tried and worked fine for me.

Be careful, don't go in recovery with adb command or you will have error installing driver, use hardware buttons (shut down and press Vol+,Vol- and Power at the same time) the screen must stay black.

Thanks a lot for this rooted firmware!

PS: I was on stock 1.0.0 fw

nice to see someone has successfully rooted the gamepad, I want to root my gamepad but don't want to brick it like the_jako but I need Root to move all the gamedata from the big gameloft games to my external sdcard and that's only possible with apps like Directory bind but that need root access.

What OS are you using? I'm on windows 8 x64 but also have a windows 7 x64 (think I'll do it with win7)

Is there a way to do a nand backup? (probably only with root tools :) i Think, anyone any suggestions

to the_jako:

Is your gamepad still bricked or did you manage to fix it?

grtz

I'm on Win7 x64, maybe the_jako has applied the Archos update before flashing??

If you are not confident in flashing, don't do it ! Wink

It's good that we have at least one positive feedback with the tests, I'll do more tests in a few days and I'll provide another rooted firmware that's easier to flash.

Cheers.

Still bricked and dont know how to do now. I'll try more things in a few days I'm out for Xmas

Anyway the fault was mine I pressed the update button instead of the restore. Be careful!!

Thanks for the root and hope I could try it soon.

Thanks a lot for the rooted firmware.

I have successfully flashed it, coming from stock firmware 1.0, using Win7/64bit.

Here's how I did it:

connected tablet to usb, switched off the tablet, then pressed vol+,vol-, poweron at the same time.

The tablet was still showing me a black screen (no archos logo), but Win7 complained suddenly about a missing driver. I went into the device manager, used the rockchip driver (amd64/win7) and proceeded to start the flashing tool. If your device proceeds automatically to boot Android, then you have do something wrong.

Then (still with a black screen on the tablet) I selected the rooted firmware, clicked on "restore" and waited a few minutes. The flash completed successfully. It will set everything back to default, this means all apps/settings are gone. Then it rebooted automatically.

Then I checked for root access - first SuperSU wanted an update, then Check Root didn't want to show me a root success, but then I remembered to turn on usb debugging on the tablet. Afterwards, checkroot confirmed that the tablet is rooted! :)

Thanks!

It should work no matter which firmware you upgrade from, stock one, last update or even a custom firmware. Just make sure you are using Rockchip Batch tool and use the Restore button.

Cheers.
