I also flashed successfully from original dec 27 update to rooted firmware.

Using win7x64 & loaded the requested drivers then proceeded to the flasher.

Few mins .. then done.

Dont panic when u see Archos logo taking a bit more time than usual boot.

Also disconnected usb cable after flashing and just before booting.

Hello, I'm sorry to be a pain but I have just got my Gamepad and already memory is an issue, hence why I am here, I have just bought a 64GB sd card but ofc I cant move much to it, I have never rooted a device before and even with your post I'm still not 100% sure what I'm doing. As I don't want to break my device would anyone who knows what they are doing be willing to talk my through it, or upload a quick video to youtube etc?

I know its asking alot but at the moment I can only have two games and its full. Thank you in advance for anyone willing to help.

Have a read here http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/archos-arnova-general/flashingunbrick-project/
Still, the flashing process is easy to fallow, you just need to fallow the steps.
There is no video guide available at this moment.

The following users say thank you to globula_neagra for this useful post:

Just rooted the Archos Gamepad - yeah!

Flashing itself is easy, but I ran into a lot of trouble to get the "Rockusb Driver" to work. The solution was to enable "USB Debugging" before entering the rescue mode. Else windows 7 was unable to use the driver packed with Rockchip Batch Tool.

Thanks for the FW

Now I have flickering background while Link plays the ocarina of time :-/

App2SD does NOT copy the stuff on SD Card. The card is not mounted on /mnt/sdcard/0 so "USB Storage" is used /*confusing*/

I have noticed that a button problem remains even after I updated the latest firmware officially released on 27th Dec 2012. (and I also checked that the custom firmware here didn't fix this bug.)

The problem is:
When "X", "A" and "R1" are pressed simultaneously, the input somehow becomes "START".
Similarly, "X", "A", and "L1" becomes "SELECT" input.

Could anyone check whether this problem occurs also on any other consoles than mine? If this button problem is generally seen in any GamePad consoles, I hope the official or custom firmware will fix it...

And the installation of chainfire 3d is a most wanted with the gpu mali 400 in order to play the TEGRA games.

Chainfire 3D worked fine for me first time, now i am able to play tegra games but a warning, the battery does not last very long at all for me when playing with tegra games (maybe 30-45 mins), even if i turn the screen down to the lowest, I'm going to install a better battery and hope that it gives me a decent amount of play time. will update soon.

sorry Brackenwall but i dont belive what you said.

I have installed chainfire 3d 3.3 version two times by the two different ways, both caused a brick.

I have read in xda-developers that chainfire 3d isnt compaible with jelly bean, so...

Also, would be nice if someone help us to hide the status bar that is always there even with games.

I have found ways to kill the processes but not premanently. If you reboot, the status bar is again there.

please, help with the both questions that for sure will improve very much our amazing device Archos Gamepad.

I have also tried Chainfire 3D with the same result: tablet bricked. No compatibility with Android 4.1 yet.

To hide and unhide the status bar, I use this app: full!screen (needs root)

It's very configurable and with quick access through notifications.

PS: I'm still suffer hangs with an SD card inserted, it's a pain. I'm stuck with the internal memory to avoid this stupid bug. I hope will be fixed soon...

Yes, in my opinion the Archos Gamepad NEED something as chainfire 3d to play the tegra games.

Because the mali 400 MP is a beast !

it matters also what usb cable, and what usb ports are you using, the usb ports from the laptop are native ports, the one from the pc, only the one from the back of the pc unit are native
