For the mini cam, motion ball, the weather tag and the movement tag.

- CPU: TI CC2541

- RF transmitter: RFX2401C

RFX2401C looks to be using the Zigbee technology which (possibly) explains the low transmission speeds of images.

Heya,

According to the RFX2401C data sheet, it's definitely a IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee only wireless component.

I don't think the ARCHOS Smart Home tablet has ZigBee support, so the presence of this component on the accessories such as the Mini Cam may possibly be a left over (unused ?) of an original Chinese device designSmile

Another option I can think of, it could be a feature to be activated later, would be a great opportunity for meshing the accessories in the home network...

Cheers.

It is a nice subject to look into. For example, when pairing the connected objects to the home tablet(with the LED blinking), the objects are not visible from another Bluetooth device, while the tablet can find them and connect.

Another thing, Archos was talking about some long range distance antenna on the tablet.

Nevertheless, it does have some shortcomings: Its range is insufficient to cover a typical house and a Bluetooth LE host can typically only maintain communications with three or four other devices, she said. To solve those problems, the Android tablet at the hub of the Archos smart-home system has a special antenna taking the range to 20 meters and a tweaked software stack allowing it to communicate with up to 32 devices simultaneously.

And because Zigbee is 2.4 Ghz, just like the Wi-Fi 802.xx, it might be not that difficult to have it built it. Anyways, I will have a closer look on this, nothing is sure for now. :)

Hi,

the battery drain of the mini cam is horrible, the org. batteries who was shipped with the starter pack gone flat within two weeks... wtf... where is the promised 1 year! So I bought a set of duracell cr2450 batteries, but, within 2 days they are run flat too...

Can anyone confirm this mini cam battery drain? I can´t find an Archos E-Mail support in Germany, is there one in France (english spoken)?

Thx in advance

Dirk

Hello,

We also noticed an issue with the Mini-Cam battery life and we actually conducted some detailed tests to measure that we should publish soon.

It seems a new camera firmware update (available thru latest Smart Home app) has fixed an issue with the low battery life reporting.

As for ARCHOS support, you should have a piece paper in your Smart Home package with Technical assistance number for Germany or you can use their website:

http://www.archos.com/de/support/support_tech/index.html

If you get some details about the battery life, feel free to post an update on the forum.

Cheers.
