I have a new 10b G3 that I am trying to back up prepertory to rooting it.  When I connect it to an Acer Aspire One tablet running XP it tells me it cannot install the drivers for it and it ends up with a yellow question mark Other Device in the Device Manager.

I found a driver for it and even when I lead the installer to the inf file it will not use that driver.  I think the problem is that the driver files are not for the 10b series tablets, only the earlier one.  The only driver I have found for it is this one:

To add to the strangeness of this, when I connect the Arnova 10b G3 to MacBook running XP under Parallels it quickly plugs and plays as a MTP device.

I want to do the backup and rooting using the Aspire though...

I'm new to Android, as I understand it I cannot use CWM or TWRP until I after get it rooted.  And I should do a backup before I root it.  Does that sound right?
