So, how does one upgrade an Archos G3 9 from 4.0 Ice-Cream-Sandwich to 4.1 Jelly Bean. In my naivety, I presumed that, as it is an open-source OS, you'd be able to download a simple upgrade file from the web and load it on and away you go. Seems that that isn't the case...

Android OS is open source but needs to be adapted to each tablet hardware by the tablet/phone vendor, which can represent considerable work as there are many drivers for touchscreens, sensors, Wi-FI, audio specific to each device.
In the case of the Arnova 9 G3, I commented in another forum topic that seeing an Android 4.1 upgrade is quite unlikely in my opinion.
