I actually didnt use the rockchip batch tool. I used MPtool which is more generic. This tablet is another one of the generic vortex tabs like the flytouch. You will need to use the vortex.pak update. I got an english copy of the MPtools program i used, but im still looking for the particular vortex.pak. I will post tomorrow after i get home and look for it.

Hi

I've got the same tablet. Not possible to enter recovery, SN is 502153. I'm actively looking for the correct vortex.pak. If your works, could you share it?

That would be awesome of you! I hate having it just sit there not being used. I have even gone as far as emailing tabeo tech support but they ignored me after two emails.

Yes I can confirm that Kingo Root successfully rooted this retched thing they call a Tabeo.

Now looking to install custom recovery and get stock ICS installed and maybe it can run correctly. sheesh this was waaaay too much work for a kids tablet.

Please let me know if you get to find a proper recovery for this baby.

We could probably try to flash kasty ROM, but we need to  put tabeo kernel in that zip file before updating, to avoid touch screen and Wi-Fi failure Wink

not looking good. after the root i tried to install busybox, it says it was installed but said there was an issue with the version (?), i tried installing the rockchip CWM recovery using Arctools but that didnt get me anywhere, the system will not reboot into recovery, not even stock recovery.

I tried changing the files in update.zip from the dec 2012 tabeo update but it just comes back saying the update files could not be validated. There must be some signing or something in the scipt that verifies that this is tabeo approved .img before it flashes them.

I found a walkthrough on xda to get gapps installed using busybox and then flash gordon app but even after the flash gapps it didnt take it very well.

After hours working on this last night i came to a standstill when the internal memory (sd card) no longer can be accessed from within apps or connected to my computer. I tried to do a total reset of the device but when i try that after the reboot it comes to a screen that looks grey with colors mixed without (kinda like a old tv without any signal). I think this tablet either fried inside or the files became corrupted from all my tinkering and it didnt like it.

This is also a replacement tablet from support (my 3rd actually). Its way out of warranty so i think im SOL. just thinking about trashing this crap and getting my son a $50 tablet from walgreens.

I think i hit a dead end.

I spend almost 2 months to discover this pad was not a Rockchip one, but i'm not skilled enough to try to extract the kernel from my actual ROM.

Hope someone will get into it  Confused

thanks again for this post

please select your display dimmer to 10 min or more for this, or may be that the device goes in standby and you (can) lose the connection, after the backup is done you can already set to original 2 min, 5min or ....

abar

now i was able to install the tabeo firmware on it, wifi is OK, but display not alligned and touch not responding,

i think is the recovery.img from penta tablet that is not compatible but not sure Yell
