I got a Tabeo (model AN7DG3C) and after using the built in upgrade app to update to the newest firmware (from TRU) it won't get past the boot animation. I have tried the reset button + power button to get into recovery, but it doesn't work. It only has those two buttons. It doesn't get to the point where my PC shows it's connected either by ADB or in device manager. Any ideas would be appreciated. TRU tech support told me he didn't even know it was made by Archos....

On the arnova childpad which is almost the same like the 7dg3, the combinations is
: insert a paperclip in the Reset pinhole of the tablet and press the Power button
There is another way to get in the bootloader, get the tablet in the android recovery mode (the image with a green android) it is usually achieved by pressing power button and volume key - in the same time, the tablet must be off to get in this state, then you need to connect the tablet to the pc. A pop up will appear regarding installation of the drivers, i use superoneclick to force install them. After the installation in adb i issue the command adb devices to see if the device is connected adb reboot bootloader to get the tablet in the flashing mode.

The button combinations werent working, im guessing because it's just different enough to be annoying. I also have the Android SDK installed and couldn't get it to register on the PC because it wouldn't boot far enough for ADB to see it. Also there is no volume button, only power and reset....BUT......
I opened it up, and there is a button on the inside. I used this and the power button, while hitting reset and it installed as a Vimicro superdrive disk. VDrf. So now im trying to use MPtool to reflash the original firmware as per the instructions for some of the other Vortex generic tablets.

@captmeach7, did you get it to flash the firmware after it mounted as a "vimicro superdrive disk"? Â I'm curious if I can flash a 7d g3 firmware to it. Â Is the third button that you have to press inside of the device? Â Did you have to break any warranty stickers or anything? Â Thanks!

I did get the G3 firmware flashed to it. The button is on the inside, but there was no warranty sticker. The screws to get inside the device were plain silver phillips screws. I have a couple photos of the inside with the button somewhere. I had to use a pc with Windows XP installed for MPtool to work, and if i recall it tells me the flash failed even though the tablet will boot after a couple of tries.Â

Hi. How did you flash it? I got the vdfu drive up, but can't find the MPtool software here or on other sites.

Hi, been looking EVERYWHERE and used various search functions on many forums, but this is the closest i have gotten to my problem.
My tabeo is pattern lock protected, and usb debugging is off. i managed to find mptools and it recognizes the tablet as previously said before. But, my problem now is this requires me to have the update file as a .PAK
captmeach7, mind letting me know where I am going wrong? Ive tried both winXp and win7 pc's and nothing.
Possible I am using the wrong mptools? Where did you get yours from?
thanks

I think he is refearing to Rockchip batch tool, there is no other tool to flash the tablet (except a very old version of rk batch tools, or a linux way)

Hello, I have googled far and wide and still i have no means on how to flash the TABEO.
I've gotten as far as getting the PC to recognize the tablet as a VMicro device by using the button found inside on the mainboard of the tablet. Aside from that, the Rockchip Batch tool won't recognize the device nor the pc tell me it needs drivers to recognize it...
Does anyone know of a way to put this tablet on recovery mode? Thank you.
