Hy Medeni73 !

if you follow the 2 others links :

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/arnova-childpad7d-g3-capacitive-android-4-1-1-jb-custom-firmware/

and

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/arnova-childpad-custom-firmware-google-play-root/

you will download CFw for childpad before the new OFw from arnova ! and the installation will become good but your screentouch won't be working !

But if you follow this actual post, with the good recompiled CFw from admin you will have at the end of the manipulation a good working screentouch !

So go and run :)

Thanx for the answer...so for now only this firmware and "Arnova ChildPad&7d G3 Android 4.0.4 + CWM Recovery custom firmware" are working 100% on capacitive models? Why admin doesn't remove then these 2 problematic ones cos tablet is useless without touchscreen feature??? Are they working on resistive versions of ChildPad?

I think the reason why they dont delete the two versions is that not that many have problems with those two versions.

Also in those 2 threads there are several tips and advice and hits wich is usefull for both versions.

Its a work in progress and we are greatfull for their hard work!

It seems like the resitive versions are harder to patch so patience is a vertue.

Not the good link !!! be carrefull

You use thye firmware from this topic and the second link from my answer and you will have a successfull screentouch working !

The CFW from the 2 links were working for childpad capacitiv but before thoses with news official firmware from arnova ( date 26 sept 2012) ! i tried to install them and at the end i always had a screentouch not working !

I don't know if it'll be working for resistive childpad !

Good luck

OK so far I got that this thread is currently only one where you get custom root Firmware on capacitive version where touch function works...But whats that with 1GB partition? If I flash to this version I get instead of 4 just 1 GB free space???

No that means that u now have 1GB to install Apps instead of the 512 in the normal FW

btw you never had 4 gb.... on either version...software and apps and movie in normal firmware takes up space!!

thanx for clarification but I assume its possible to install some more on SD-card? Or you can use SD-card just as Data storage (videos, music, etc)?

And in earlier firmwares (4.0.4) it stood f.E.

  • Allow mass storage
  • Stability improvements
  • Camera enhacements
  • Smoother screen rotation

etc. are those all features included in this working firmware version too or not?

And one more thing: what I still dont understand how come those earlier versions dont work suddenly (touch function) when there is also video  that shows that custom firmware 4.1 JB  for example does work on capacitive model? On video you see that touch function works :)

on arnova firmware you can not use SD as anything other than storage

On JB firmware here you can use SD to install programs.

The first JB firmware works great on some CP (CaPasitive) devices but unfortunatly not on some others.

There seems to be no logic as to why it works on some and not on other CP devices.

As far as I can tell it is both Alvin Editions and also newer editions.

Mine is Alvin with ser.no. 512.17 and it works without this test firmware.

So as of now. go figure - point is

No matter if you have a version that works with JB version or not these great people here have made it so you can get Play on your childpad ---if you have CP version

Many thanx for insightful infos and patience with Arnova newbie :)

Just one question and I wont bother anymore :)

When I get Childpad I plan to test it if some of those firmwares work ( I will write my experience here in forum together with serial no. so that users with same model might get some useful info from me too). My question: is it safe to play with flashing different versions from this forum (capacitive ones only of course) and can I and how revert back to original firmware or that one from official site?

Well if its safe or not is up to you.

If you read how to do it, and read the posts on these forums about some of the problems people have run in to and how to solve em. Then yes its safe.

BUT ITS AT YOUR OWN RISK

I have personally flashed my childpad (hmm my kids childpad) 6 times so far and only problems was solved quickly by reading forums

I'll list a few

1. Windows cant recognize it

2. You havent installed the right rockport chip flashing tool devise drivers (Yeah you think of a better name ;) )

3. It wont boot after you reset it (well if its plugged in to the computer and rockport finds it. then the screen is supposed to be black)

4. The flashing of new firmware doesnt work - READ Carefully - remember to tick/select/deselect the right boxes

5. I did but it still doesnt boot - try again

6. I did try but still doesnt boot - then try and run the loader with the installation.

I have run into nr. 3 - 4 -5 and 6 of these errors - all of which were solved within minutes just by reading

So again. Read these forum pages about flashing and the problems people have had. Maybe even save those pages so you can find them again if you run into any of these problems.

That being said my first flash went without a single problem :) Yours might to.

Hello,
i noticed that I was using the test FW 9/26 only have about 512MB of RAM. In the original FW, there are more than 1 GB. Can that be changed?

If you read post #5 you would see that the firmware file has been updated.

I have updated post #1 so lazy people have less to read.

Cheers.
