Did you unzip the update.img file? If you did, try navigating to update.img with the in-built file explorer.

Hi

I downloaded the kasty-arnchilpadc-40-04-1G.zip, and used the rockchip_Batch tool to flash my childpad.

It seems to work, but after rebooting, the capasitive screen does not react. Frown

The tablet is brand new.

Any good ideas ?

I have the same behavior. A brand new Capacitive one, and the screen doesn't work after flashing... :( please help us :(

Edit : It's a Alvin & chipmunks version, that's probably the problem... or not ?

Just want you to test a few things guys. :)

1) Flash the stock firmware with RKBatchTools. Make sure the touchscreen is working.

2) Download this package:

http://exelletor.arctablet.com/Firmware-ChildPad/AN7DG3-CPTESTKERNEL.zip

3) Extract the files.

3+) Put the ChildPad in the recovery mode like you would flash a normal firmware.

4) Run the RK29Update as administrator

5) Locate the parameter and kernel files and put them in the appropiate boxes.

5) Tick the boxes as shown below:

newkernel.pngImage Enlarger

Yes, you need to locate the parameter file, but you don't need to tick the left box. We are only going to flash the kernel, but we need to get the offset from parameter. Click on run after that.

6) Tell me the output. :)

7) If it still works, you could try to flash the custom firmware and apply the steps from above to (possibly) get the working touchscreen back. :)

Thanks, I'll try it tonight (I'm in Belgium). I cannot try it now,  it's for my daughter and she's here :)

Will it work also with JB rom ? Or only with this ICS rom ?

If I am not mistaken, we will have to think up a different solution for JB... For now, try it with the stock firmware. :)

Just flashed the Kernel and it works ! Will try a JB rom I haven't tested, and if it doesn't work, I'll try a ICS with this Kernel. Thanks a lot !

Edit : Flashed NeoCM10 1.0 (JB) but no touch screen. Then flashed your kernel over just for a try but no luck. It was not working for touch panel and the screen was like it was a too high resolution. I wasn't able to see all the screen.

Now, I'm downloading this ICS rom, and will try with it...

Damn, it doesn't work... I flashed this ICS rom, and the touch screen didn't work. So, I flashed your kernel over the top and the result was the same that for the JB rom. The size was like the resolution is too big, I cannot see all. And the touch didn't work either. Did you worked from this kernel or from the original one ? Perhaps it has a difference ?

Edit : I'm now downloading an Arnova 7b G3 ICS rom, will try it, we never know... I'm a bit disapointed

Edit 2 : With the 7b G3 rom, the wifi is not working. But it seems it's the only thing ! Perhaps a 7d rom will work, I'll try it now.

Edit 3 : Ok so with the 7d G3 rom, the screen didn't work. I flashed your kernel, same as before. The only combination I didn't tried is the 7b rom with your kernel. Because in the 7b, the screen worked... Perhaps the wifi issue will be sorted by your kernel.

Edit 4 : Nothing to do. It's totally anoying... I tried everything I could, now I'm really tired and I'll go to sleep. I really hope somebody will find a solution, otherwise I wonder how I'll install all cool apps my daughter want on it... :(

NOOOO ! I just reflash the original firmware and I realise that I don't have ANY market on it :( :( :( No apps at all, no appslib. I'm stuck with that...

Okay, the appslib is reinstallable from the website, I'm safe for now :) I go to sleep.

ICS should be fixable, stay tuned. :)

If you have working adb setup, it would be cool to get a full adb dmseg log from boot.

just out of curiousity would it be an idea to get the serial numbers for those who got JB working

and those who havent?
To see if there is any system in the touch screen failing?
That way untill the fix maybe users wont have to try and fail.

Just suggestion.

Have tried every combination I can think off without getting the touch screen to work.

I tried to folle the steps described on 10/11, but still no success.Cry

I just noticed that my ChildPad is a 4Gb (Child Pad Alvin Capacitive 4Gb EU)

Could this be a part of my problem ?

For now I have flashed it with the original ROM fron Arnova, but it is terrible not to have the Play store availeble.

Hope you might have some ideas on what to do.

Thanks for great support. Smile

Exelletor suggested me to build another custom firmware with my own system, as my builds are a little different than his.

Then we will see if it helps with the touchscreen issue. I'll do the build these next days and will post it here.

Cheers.
