And yes i know that you can make market "safe" for kids - it was more in the line of him not buying apps ;-)

Or do as I, I created an google account for my kids and registered the market with their account. While registering I was asked "IF" I wanted to provide my creditcard details, which I skipped. So my kids can enter the playstore but cannot buy. Unless they steal my creditcard. And if they are smart enough to steal the creditcard, they will be buying more expensive stuff from internet :-)

Or you can just setup an additional PIN which has to be entered before you can make a purchase in the Play Store. That's even easier :)

Hello,

I just flashed my ChildPad with the firmware you provided using Rockship Flashing (because the ChildPad was stuck). However I lost all of the applications.

From where can get the original firmware since it is not (yet) on Arnova site.

Many thanks for your great job!

This is probably a really stupid question but how do I do if my daughters childpad is capacitive or resistive ? We bought it from our local co-op store and it was pre-loaded with some alvin and the chipmunks stuff ??

Thanks in advance

Has anyone tried to put this firmware on the 7d g3 since in essence they are the same?

The packaging should be the same for both ChildPads, the only difference you will find on the box is the Ref number – for the Capacitive version it should be 502.17x, while the resistive version got an 501.94x.

Just got it back from germany and love it so far ..... that means 30 minutes after it has done recharging.

I can confirm about the 502.17x number in the lower right corner, in a square  on the back.

Also it said capasitive in the wrapping and on the outside of the box with alvin and those high pitch chipmunks....

But sadly the wife has already taken it...... dang it

and i tried appzoom appdroid and most if not all links to Play.google.com app..

So yes i can install without market if i have the app.. but i cant extract the app from my phone and get it to work on it..like Files Zilla FTP

(note, not filezilla)

there is no way to get that to install

so if i decide tomorrow to flash it

I need to know pls.

Does it support Danish language?

Thank you guys,,,,looking forward to a flash tomorrow :)

Play requires a custom rom, so go for it. And yes but no, the Android base system can be switched to Danish, but that gives you no guarantee that all the apps have been translated.

Hi and again thank you for the reply

So i did the easy flash to get play working and danish was there.

BUT im running out of space already since flashing the easy way doesnt increase the size to 1gb, so its only the standard 512. Heck the 3 angry birds game tages 80 mb or more.

So

im planning on flashing the "hard" way with reset and rockport tool

Since the image to download is the same for both way

does that mean that danish language will be supported with the hard flash?

That is correct, "repartitioning" only works with the RK tool. And since i'm using the same image on the same piece of hardware and get Danish as an option, i'm pretty certain you will too.

If you want to keep the apps that shipped with it though, i suggest you take a backup (i like Titanium a lot), because an RK flash will delete all installed apps and other data.

The hard reset will still provide you the default arnova installer when starting up. So if you have Danish now, you will have it also after the hard reset. But remember that since you will do a hard reset, the current settings and apps will all be gone. It will feel like getting a brand new 7 inch tablet from arnova without the kids stuff but better performance.

In regards of the default chilpad included kids games, you can do 2 things at this moment.

  • Use ES Filemanager (download via playstore) and transport the folder /sdcard/system/APK offline (eg.: to a shared network drive)
  • Or try to find them back via google playstore.

Just make sure to disable calendar and contact syncing when you have defined your google account.

okay sorry for repeating myself but this forum is one of the best!

Okay good to hear with the flashing i'll do that when im done writing :)

About the apps kids games installed, well basically they suck since you get directed to get more games, buy this buy that, and is full of adds popping up, so i can do without them and just use the apps i approve for him.

question --- disable calendar and contact syncing..... i might need a bit more guidance.

In regards of some generic adds, simply use Adfree. It's a small tool that blocks those adds, based on modifying the hosts file. I use it on the childpads and my rooted Galaxy S2. Cool I believe many Android rooted users are using this. The "build-into-the-app" adds you have to live with it. It's like angry birds. Those developers live on the fact that some people indeed buy those apps. Smile

It might be that after the hard reset, you will notice that google might have issues syncing your google account. It's because of a bug in the image (missing file and small config I believe). It will fail when it wants to try to sync the contacts and the calendar. So simply go into settings>accounts, then select your google account and verify that conatcs and calendar sync is turned off in case they are present. Laugh

In case you like tu use the calendar, have a look on this forum. It's mentioned how to get the calendar working. Wink
