Thanks for your message.
We are working on improving the firmware for a better usage of the storage for data, we'll see what we can do, as time permits.
In the meantime, we've built a custom firmware for the Capacitive ChildPad with extended space (1 Gb instead of 512 Mb) for the apps, you can find it in our ChildPad forum.
Cheers.

My apologies, the custom firmware with 1 Gb space (instead of 512 Mb) for applications was published but only privately.

Here it is:

for the resistive ChildPad: kasty-arnchilpadr-40-041-1G.zip

for the capacitive ChildPad: kasty-arnchilpadc-40-04-1G.zip

Choose the right firmware for your tablet and flash it with Rockchip flasher.

Cheers.

I hope you can help me!

I tried to install the firmware but nothing happens...

Do I have to do something, before I copy the file to my childpad?

Many thanks and sorry for my English...

Andrea,

If you are talking about the files in post #19, you need to install them with Rockchip Flasher (check the page for the details).

If you refer to the regular firmware file, just follow the procedure in the blog article, the prompt should show when you disconnect the USB cable, or after you reboot the tablet. If that does not happen, please use Rockchip Flasher, this is the safest method to flash a firmware.

Cheers.

Many thanks for your answer.

Is it correct that i only have to copy the file to the childpad? Or do I have to do anything before copying? Or do I have to copy the file into a special folder?

There shows no prompt neither by disconnecting nor by rebooting...

Any other possibility than rockchip? I already installed it but my English is not so good and I don't want to destroy something

🙁

Kind regards

Andrea

You need to copy the firmware file unpacked (that is update.img) to the root of your storage when you mount the tablet to your computer, there is nothing else to do.

If that doesn't work for you, I'm afraid it's best to use Rockchip Flasher, maybe some readers of the forum that speak your language can help you better...

Cheers.

thx for the 1GB files,

but when i'm installing this update, all programs that are installed are gone (custom preinstalled games and all tools)?

or is it also only an upgrade, where all programs stay on the pad?

Thx

Alex

No, it will be wiped. So be careful and make back-ups first if you need to.

If you are not comfortable with these procedures or do not fully understand it, I strongly recommend asking a tech-friend / nephew etc. to help you with this.

Many thanks, but now it works!!!! The helping key word was "unpacked"...;-)

But now I'm interested in the difference of the regular firmware file and the file in post #19...!?! Could you help me again?

Is it worth it?

Kind regards Andrea!

I have just flashed both childpads which I have and all works like a charm.

Great Job with the increased APPS space.

Hope more nice features will appear. Wink

Hello,

I'm trying to install the 1G files on my childpad to increase apps space.

I'm following the flashing procedure as described on this website, I've gone through the preliminary steps and now I got stuck trying to enter the childpad into flashing/recovery mode.

I get some kind of error on the screen: an android like the one below but with a red rectangle and exclamation mark on the keyboard.

My computer doesn't recognize the childpad, so I cannot go to step 3 of the procedure.

Please, does anybody know how to resolve this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Wouter
