Try to flash again, make sure to use Restore button in Rockchip batch tool.

i've tried twice on one xp and one win7

but what do you mean by restore button ?

i've always made upgrade directly.

for the moment the tablet is with an official archos firmware (it's the only solution for use it)

Just a follow up on the battery indicator problem. Although I tought mine was ok after flashing, it did indeed seem to be stuck on 100% all the time.

What seems to have fixed it is by ticking the 'show screen updates' in the developer options section in settings. I only left it ticked for a couple of minutes but it seemed to do the trick.

This was on a Carbon 97 but may work for the Arnova?

Hi everyone, being the owner of an Archos 97 Carbon i was very interested in the custom firmware especially with the app storage being upped to 2gb.

After reading the instructions over and over and over I decided to take the plunge and give the firmware a try...........and it works!

There were a couple of hiccups (getting the tablet into flash mode for a start) and not detecting the drivers (windows 7 32 bit.) But after a bit of faffing it all began to work.

One thing I would say about the instructions for flash mode that didn't seem clear (unless I was reading it wrong) is that when you do the' reset holding a button routine' keep hold of the particular button (for 97 Carbon its the home button) after releasing the reset until you have connected the tablet to the PC.

I was trying this numerous times before I found the instructions for another tablet and tried it for the Carbon, hey presto it worked! The driver thing was easy enough, just follow the instructions with the Rockchip installation for finding the correct drivers.

Anyheeew, have installed a couple of apps and everything seems to be rocking and rolling. There doesn't appear to be an issue with the battery indicator (its just dropped to 99% after a bit of use.)

I will start to install all my usual apps and see how it goes. One thing that I will try to get around next is the rather annoying 'device not compatible' error on google play!

Any ideas?????

Hi, I´m struggling with the holding button routine, do you remember this "different sequence" you said worked on Carbon that is not the sequence in the tutorial?

There is only one sequence, but many different ways to explain and understand it Wink

You can have a look at this previous post for other explanations.

You also have the option to put the tablet in flash mode using adb, but it's probably less convenient than using the hardware buttons.

Cheers.

In response to the button sequence question,

For the carbon 97, I found you had to press and hold the reset button then hold the home button also, release the reset button but keep the home button pressed while you connect it to the PC.

When connected, THEN release the home button you will then find that the PC recognises a new device and then you go through the driver installation bit.

Hope this helps

Hi all.

I´ve installed this firmware, and in general, it works fine. Good job. But I´ve a big issue with WiFi: it does not connect with WPA2 and SSID invisible. I´ve tried it OPEN and SSID visible, and it connects.

Also I tried with a couple of different routers, and the issue is the same. So, I think there is an issue in the firmware.

Could you please check it? Is there somebody with the same issue?

Many thanks.

Regards.

Hi there, I have had no issues connecting to two different routers. It all worked first time, not sure what the problem could be.

I have come across an issue with a second tablet I was installing the firmware on. Even though the battery is fully charged it will not power up without the charger plugged in.

However if i keep hold of the power button it boots up and works fine, let go and it immediately goes off!

I did have a bit of trouble initially installing the firmware, I got a red triangle and an android on its back!! I just reset the tablet and went through the process again and it installed, but now with the power button problem.

Is it a coincidence that I had the red triangle android issue then the power not staying on?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Cheers

The Question was asked already, but nobody answered to it. Is it possible to overclock the chipset aufter the Flash? Or will it be the same Kernel anyway? I want to take the "carbon" as pdf reader and could use al litte speed up. Exept of this point the tablet is realy good!
