There are a few discussions in the comments section of our custom firmware Article

Unfortunately, there are many comments in German that I don't understand.

Can someone comment here about the latest custom firmware, so we can post an article with the update and eventually see if there are things to improve.

Thank you.

I will do, but I'd like first to modify that firmware so it flashes on the Archos eReader without requiring Rockchip Flashing tool.

So it's in the plans, for the coming weeks. If someone here want to help with modifying the custom BQ firmware that way or with making the article, you are welcome Smile

I have just tried to install kasty-arc7eb-21-02.zip by following the instructions provided. All seemed to work well but since the reader rebooted itself it permanently hangs. I have tried to reset using the different options: Right Arrow, press off button and reset etc but nothing happens. As soon as it comes back on again it hangs again.

I have tried connecting it back to my PC but it no longer recognises the reader.

The instructions say following rebooting it may take a while to load. I have left it a couple of hours and still no luck. Am I expecting it to work too quickly.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

You can use Rockchip flashing tool to flash again this firmware or a different one.

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/archos-tablet/flashing-firmware-rockchip-cpu-based-devices-archos-ht-7-8-arnova-10/

I'll need to verify the keys or functions to use on the tablet to activate it for flashing.

I can't find the default firmware for the device on Archos side, I should be able to provide it if needed.

Thanks. I've downloaded the file and unzipped it to the desktop. I've reset by pressing the right arrow whilst pushing in the on/off button and inserting a pin in the reset. Still no sign the reader is being recognised. Any thoughts on what next?

I've unzipped the file a second time and I can see the RKAndroidBatchUpgrade file. Opening this the boxes marked "Image" and "Erase User Section" are checked.

Trying to reinstall the original firmware does not work as the message keeps coming back "device not detected".

Good day everyone,

after reading this post, it seems that no one has succeeded flashing their archos.

I was wondering whether or not someone did it with no issues since the last post. if yes, how?

Thanks in advance for your help!
