Using Rockchip flashing tool should get you fixed, you may want to try it on a different machine, preferably a Windows XP 32 bits if you can access to one.

There hasn't been much support on this firmware lately.

If you want to flash back to the default firmware from the manufacturer, please use Rockchip Flashing tool

There is currently no stable support for Flash on the Archos 7HTv2 and other Arnova based on Rockchip 2818.

Copy the *.apk to your sd-card and open the file with ASTRO. ASTRO is a free application that can be found on Market. This application can do much more that just install applications from a file (apk), it's recomended to have this app

got it from here

now i maybe should of held off but i added it to my /system folder  used said method and installed it..and it works so far...only thing is for me it needs to be in same room or very close to where our wifi router is or else it drops out and wifi goes off..but in same room..all good.

maybe of help to another newb like me, or it maybe soemthing that has been tried and dismissed as unstable..just thought i would add my two pence worth.

 have enjoyed reading all the items and will brave myself and do the upgrade soon..promise...Laugh

cheers all

Hey Guys,

I recently gave your preview a try. Great work:

* Wireless works better (able to connect to tethering devices, which somehow was disabled before)

* rooted!

* all installed apps work

What did not work out of the box:

* Download and install market from Arctools (Error 25: ...)

* many apps complain about missing sdcard, and in fact it is marked unavailable in "settings / storage"

However what I did now with the "Terminal Emulator" app (luckily available through appslib)  was

"su

umount /mnt/nand

mount /dev/blocks/vold/31:8 /mnt/sdcard"

This magically got the install going!! However the market behaves strangely, displaying only 3 results for "evernote", when it claims it found 2000.

The main issue is with this ROM is the sdcard issue.. Do you have any ideas how one could work around it? I could volunteer some time in coding if needed.

A good job. I'd tested it on my old 7HTV2 and I prefer this firmware than others (Froyo or improvement Eclair). The only thing I missed is the configuration of my USB physical keyboard. How to configure my keyboard to definitively adopt cyanogen firmware ?
