I have just purchased 2 Archos 7 home tablet v2 for my kids.
I have just installed from the appslib the arctools 0.63 so that I can install youtube etc and the android market. I have tried all versions offered and all of the has downloaded, then it tells you to click on install apps... here is the problem!! in every case the system says it cant create a temp file etc and it just exits. I looked at the firmware and that again isnt finishing its download.
system says it is a 2.1 update1 eclair, and kernel 2.6.25.
anyhow can I get advice on how to install the android market pls?

Arctools isn't compatible with the default firmware. I recommend that you try this custom firmware that provide root and Market:

Regarding your WIFI problem, does it happen on both of your Archos 7HTv2 devices ? Have you tested it on other WIFI access points ?

thank you for your reply, I will look at the link in a moment, re the wifi, yes itss the same in both.. In the house we have more gadets that need wifi accesss and all seemss to be working better/stronger than the 2 tablets. as they are brand new they havent left the house yet to see if they work better elsewhere.
You should unzip the file on your computer, extract the update.img file and place it to the tablet internal memory, that is the root of the directories on the tablet (the one that contains system, dcim ... directories).
You can also refer to Archos firmware upgrade procedure here:

Hi,
just wanted to thank you as it has worked what you suggested.
I also have another question, after the success in buying the two tablets I am looking to buy myself a
ARCHOS 80 G9 Internet Tablet - 250 GB , and also the ARCHOS G9 3G stick with it so I can have access to the internet at all times.
BUT the question I have is in regards the usb stick.. where does it get the connection from?
Do I have to have a 3G phone for the 3G stick to work anywhere? or is it working some other way?
again, thank you for all your help

a 3g usb stick, is actualy a telephone with limited functions (you can send messages and use the internet via gsm network and 3g network)
in the 3g usb stick you will ned a sim that has a 3g connection active
For example the three network from uk has on offer, you make a contract with them for a sim(you dont buy a phone or something else, just the sim card), on the sim you will have unlimited data trafic

good afternoon,
a month ago I asked a few questions as I bought two I have just purchased 2 Archos 7 home tablet v2 for my kids. As you can read from my previous questions. I have installed the suggested upgrade seen below; and I have installed a few dames for my kids etc.. but it really seems that nothing really works with this new upgraded version or that everything is very slow. Also NO books can be downloaded or openned no matter what I go for, like aldiko or kindle etc..
so my question is if I cant make this work is there anyway to re install the original settings even if that is more basic?
And as I said I bought two of them, they were only given as presents today to my kids and after an hour of usage both gadgets heat up, very much so! after an hour of browsing through it you can not keep it n your hand/lap it gets that hot.. is that normal???
thanks for any help or suggestion,
tom

Sure, reinstalling the original firmware is an option, you can get it from Archos downloads/firmware support page.
http://www.archos.com/support/support_tech/updates_fwm.html?country=gb&lang=en
You are looking at Archos 7 Home tablet (ECLAIR) if you have the Archos 7HTv2.
Direct download link is here: http://update.archos.com/ht/archos7ht/rk_2818/UpdateA7HTv2.zip
Regarding your previous question, depending on their design, electronic products do generate some heat when being used. Some tablets like the Arnova 10 G2 are known to get hot, I don't remember anything specific for the Archos 7HTv2... still I wouldn't say that your tablets have a problem and all this is a very subjective evaluation
