Hi can you help me please I recently updated my Archos 7 V2 Eclair 2.1 to Froyo 2.2 by birdie

The system seems to work to a degree however it seems quite unstable as it freezes quite a bit now and turns on whilst chargeing and then freezes again  - I have also noticed that the battery runs down now very quickly  - Gmail Maps runs fine, but although I can get market, it will still only show a hand full of apps and not the full market  so this is now getting very irritating and I would now actually prefer to install Eclair 2.1 back on my device which actually even though was a little less limited it was in effect much more stable and dependable plus I had no battery problem

So my question is can I put Eclair back on my device and if so how do I do that , I notice that Archos now have an update for Elair 2.1 on their site do I download it ant imput in the same way as I did for froyo or wpuld this damage my device now that I am on Froyo 2.2

Many thanks

Just get the default official firmware for your device from Arnova website or there

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/arnova-firmwares-updates/

then follow the update procedure.

Vito,

I'm not sure about what your problem exactly is, but on Android 2.2 Froyo firmware, you need to mount the USB device to access it, else it will appear as an empty drive on your remote computer.

See: "Mounting Arnova 10b on your PC / turning ON USB Storage" section on

Hi Thank you all sorted now I did not realise that Froyo worked in a different way from elair I  have what I beleive is the default system back on now but can you explain a couple of strange things though:

Althought the default software is back and working fine I noticed that when you go to settings and then "about this device" the version has changed from Elair 2.1 to 1.10.0 whats that all about ?  it does not seem to badger the system at all, but just wondering, also I am still getting bad battery levels since I had Froyo 2.2 and still have that problem now  I charged the unit all night but after on 15 mins of usuage it lost about 15% - 20% and I only used it to send a couple of emails and surf the net any suggestions on that as I was getting about 6 hours prior to installing FRoyo

Last question is there an update to eclair 2.1 i looked at archos website but when you go to the update section it is blank even though it says download zip etc unless of course  I have downloaded it already thinking it was the default system

Kind regards and thanks to all

Hi People

Does anyone or has anyone experienced really abnormal battery deterioration after installing Froyo 2.2?

It was so bad that I had to re install eclaire 2.1 on my Archos 7 V2 - but the battery still drains very quickly (10 - 20 mins max) I checked the very few apps that I have and used es task killer to kill everything but wifi...alas makes no difference anyone have any ideas ...

regards

Vito

I can live with some problems i've had and will keep on top of any future ones, but i'm really baffled as to why the archos has lost the majority of the 8gig internal storage it had. My vista shows that i have around 6.5 gig left but the device says otherwise. I tried formatting without an sd inside but the archos remains on 400mb of internal. I don't know how flashing it would help or even to revert back to original firmware, but have read it can help with problems like unable to read tablet so i'm not sure, any advice would really be appreciated. I read a post about redirecting but couldn't get my head around itYell.
