As I a result of my first (unsuccessful) attempt to root my Diamond every time I start it new it get a message saying "The update failed, this should be a temporary issue, we'll retry later.". Even after successfully rooting my Diamond I still get this message so I suppose there is kind of a signal file or something similar left from the first attempt.

Any idea how to get rid of that message?

It worked for me (German language I believe the image is the same for all localizations), though I would not recommend it at the moment. The advice, that it deletes your sms history is no joke xD though i was prepared for that. Also my thirdparty card/calDAV sync profile broke along with the launcher/homescreen configuration. And yes, root access is gone :/

Other stuff I used so far: WLAN: Works; GSM: Works; Camera: Works; LightSensor: Works

If you choose to update anyway, here are some hints:

put Update.zip on SD0 root and open it with the (most recent) Archos system update app.

After the (lengthy, ~20min min for me) reboot/update, DO NOT touch the screen as an ugly firmware-update script will pop up.

A timer counts down, let it do so! Do not push the "update" button. After that everything should be updated.

If your hardwarekeys do not work, reboot again. (to hard reset, long press VolumeUp(or down, not 100% sure, just try both)+Lock for at least 10 seconds)

@Admin keep up the brilliant work! I'm frantically awaiting the root update 🙂

I did install the official beta Lollipop yesterday. (https://blog.archos.com/en/beta-version-of-android-lollipop-for-the-archos-50-diamond ) So far everything works.

I lost my root access, and can not get it back with the above procedure 🙁

It says in cmd the CWM image is booting, but my phone only goes blanc and nothing happens. Get it back to life by using the powerbutton for about 15 sec and rebooting to normal mode.

I guess the firmware update broke it. 🙁 🙁 🙁

Looking forward for a way to get my root access back, so if I can help with that or test something let me know!!!

Grtz,

Gerben

Hello cthulhu79,

Thanks for asking first Wink

While we have no written forum rules, we go by the netiquette and common sense, so sure there is no problem to link topics to other sites. Still, it could be helpful if someone wish to post here a translation in English...

Regarding my own experimentations with making a root procedure for the Lollipop firmware, I haven't yet found time to work on it.

Cheers.

Ok then!

Procedure is pretty much the same:

1) Already ... Install adb drivers.
2) Check if the phone is visible by opening a cmd / powershell where the fastboot and abd.exe programs are present.
After opening the console type "adb devices "if a sequence of numbers / letters appears is that it's all good.
Then do" adb reboot bootloader, "normally your phone restarts and gets stuck on" Archos ", this is normal.
Test s it is visible by "fastboot devices" if a sequence of number / letter is returned Bravo you can start.

I suggest to first check if the img file works for you with the command "fastboot boot" with MS command prompt you find here http://superuser.phh.me/archos/ac50da_L/20151015.133319/boot-su-eng.img . : it will flash temporany the lollipop beta.

3) If everything works then you can "fastboot flash boot" the same file from cmd , it will install it permanently .

4 - once you do it, do not activate archos fusion storage!!!! second step is to install phhusson supersu at this link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.phh.superuser

5 - download from this forum click here the v78-sdk22-arm64 zip and put it in your phone (better root directory)

6 - Install flashfire (check the apk on the web ) as a beta tester. Once you have installed it, follow the tutorial to flash the sdk78 zip file you downloaded previously.

7 - If everything goes right, install XposedInstaller_3.0-alpha4.apk (you find it in the same link of xda developers page) and that's it!!!

I TAKE NO CREDIT NOR RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU MESS AROUND WITH IT !!!!!!

ALL CREDITS GO TO PHHUSSON AND ROVO89.

If you want to dig more, please visit the archoslounge with chrome and let it translate the page, that's what i did it and i've been able to get it done!

I also followed the topic at archoslounge but I just can't  manage to get past this point.

Could you please elaborate how Flashfire should work?

All it does for me is blanking the screen and doing nothing.

Since i did not had the same issue as you, I cannot give much help, I've followed the tutorial here : http://flashfireapk.com/

Hope it helps! BTW did you use the command fastboot flash boot to flash it permanently? Is the archos fusion storage option disabled?

Yes! Finally succeeded!

It took a couple of times to try, sometimes stuck in boot, sometimes even boot didnt succeed, but finally I managed to root my diamond, and after a couple of times more I also succeeded in installing Xposed! Thanks cthulhu79 !

My phone still keeps notificating me that my SuperSU needs to update. " The SU binary needs to be updated. "

But when I try, it won't succeed. Any ideas?

In some apps I get root access, in others i don't...

Hmmm, as a matter of fact I m losing root with every reboot. I dont have any root access at all anymore, and doing the above procedure again does NOT work.

Anybody any ideas to get root again on my shiny Lollipop Diamond???
