Great job, the documented procedure works fine Cool

Just in case, what is the procedure to unroot (and come back to the initial stage) ?

Thank you!

Ok, got a problem. I downloaded and installed the firmware update. All good so far. When I tried to root the device (again, I have already rooted it once successfully before the firmware update), when I enter the reboot-bootloader command, my phone reboots and remains on the "Archos Entertainment your way" screen, not moving forward, not entering fastboot mode. It simply remains there.

I have to keep the power button pressed to reboot it and when I do it simply logs in to its normal, non-rooted state.

Help!!!

Hello,

In SuperSU application, check in the Settings, you should have a "Full unroot" option that lets you remove an installed root permanently.

Cheers.

hey i've seen on an XDA post on the topic ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2004836)

it seems sometimes you can try anyway to flash the phone without having him recognize correctly by windows.

i just wonder if this operation is risky and i could try to continue to step 5 even with the step 4 uncomplete.

thanks for reading 🙂

hey ! just to give you some updates on my research.

i downloaded Android studio (http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html) via the tutorial (http://tektab.com/2015/04/03/how-to-work-with-tools-like-adb-and-fastboot-on-your-android-device-installations-of-drivers-and-tools/ & http://visualgdb.com/tutorials/android/usbdebug/manualinstall.php) trying to fix the driver problem.

i also tried to use the last adb.exe and fastboot.exe from thoses files.

when i use the "adb reboot-bootloader" the phone success to enter in the apropritate mode and when i use the "fastboot devices" command i still have the same problem

also i did try to unsinstall/ install the USB/ADB drivers for the phone from the Android studio pack but i still have the same problem.

I may experiment a bit on the subject, but no plan to spend a lot of time on a custom rom for the moment, we'll see.

SephiZ,

After sending the adb reboot-bootloader command, what happens to the phone screen ?

Have you tried to update the driver on the peripheral with the question mark on Windows device manager ?

Cheers.

SephiZ: I had the exact same problem, and I thought it has to do with windows localization, but in the end, i solved it by just manually forcing the adb driver on the thing. this is on a 64 bit windows 7.

"Let me pick from a  list of device drivers from my computer"

"Android ADB Interface"

it has to work.

I also had the problem that "fastboot devices" didn't show the device and for me the solution also was to (re)install ADB driver as mentioned at this point of the process (Windows 7, 64 bit).
