I don't think it's an official store, but they have been specialized in selling ARCHOS devices for years.

The 101 XS isn't current showing on archos.com online shop for the USA, but is available on amazon.com

You can always buy in Europe, but it's probably not the easiest and cost effective solution.

Cheers.

I got a new tablet back.

It took a big month but finally received a new sealled product. It seems the touch screen changed a little bit. The color issue doesn't exist anymore, that's positive.

However I also noticed that sometime the button in the angle were getting activate by themselves, this remains on the new products. I beleive it is due to the plastic case.

cheers

Well, there are no official stats about ARCHOS / Arnova RMAs, luckily

From the reports I've read, they rarely repair tablets but either exchange them or give you a new one.

There are people that got their device replaced in a week or two. There are also a few horror stories on archoslounge.net forum about users waiting for their tablet replacement for weeks, even months. It seems these are specific cases of older models that Archos can't replace because of no stock.

The 101 XS being a new model, they may have some stock and be able to replace your product soon.

In any case please keep us posted on any status changes...

Good luck with your RMA !

Cheers.

does anyone know the average duration of a RMA on the 10-XS tab at ARchos ?

My tablet had strange colors (red pixel appear in the dark area, cyan instead of white) my tab was received by archos more than 3 weeks ago (jan 11th). the only information I have is "on going".

Have any of you experience the same issue ?

how long does it take to get the tab back ?

how to get accurate info about the status ?

regards.

XDA's procedure requires a few downloads and manipulations, globula_neagra has made the job easier with just a batch file and instructions to get your ARCHOS 101 XS rooted in a few minutes and just a few clicks.

[[** please [[** please register to see this link **]] to see this link **]]

This procedure requires that your Archos 101 XS to run on Android 4.0 ICS firmware, it will not work with latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

[raw_html_snippet id="archos-gen10-101xs-review-part2"]Archos 101 XS has managed to pack a new design and deliver a very thin tablet. Both faces of the device are made of white plastic mixed with metal enclosures light gray colored.
[[** please [[** please register to see this link **]] to see this link **]]

Compared to previous Archos models, it seems there has been a lot of efforts in the tablet build quality, as the pieces are now better adjusted, the whole device seem quite solid, the material feel quite good and does not catch fingerprints.

Connectors

On the left, you can see the 1 Mpixels frontal camera and a tiny hole which should to be dedicated to the microphone. The tablet side holds the connectors, from top to bottom:
- micro SD card connector (SDXC compatible)
- micro USB connector (host capable)
- headphone connector connector, usual 3.5 mm mini-jack format
- the HDMI connector (mini HDMI format, aka HDMI type c connector)
