We received a lot of comments from Arnova 10 G2 users on how complex it is for them to Flash a custom firmware. While we are working on better documentation and tutorials for the flashing procedure, we decided to make a very simple firmware that is very similar to the default one from Arnova and very easy to install. This article will tell you more about our Kasty EZ firmware, to get you a working Android Market on your Arnova 10 G2 Tablet in less than 10 minutes just from your tablet, without any drivers or computer needed.
Check out the video above to see how simple it is.
This firmware is made for and has been tested only on Arnova 10 G2 tablets with 8 Gb Flash storage. It should not be used on other tablets, especially Philadelphia Inquirer or HSN models that would loose their default software.
Install procedure
Before starting, please make sure you backup all your existing apps, data and files that are on your tablet as they will be erased during the flash process. Also make sure your device is connected to the power.Step 1. Flashing the firmware
| Run Appslib that can be found in the applications on your tablet. While in Appslib, search for “Arctools” application, you should get “ArcTools (Market Apps installer & Disk tester)” in the list, download, install and run the application. | ![]() |
In Arctools, go to Firmware tab, select “Arnova 10 G2 EZ custom firmware 1.11” (or more recent than 1.11 if there is one)![]() | Read the disclaimer in the application and press the checkbox if you agree with the conditions, then press the Download button. It should take about two minutes to complete the new firmware download. Restart the tablet when the program is inviting you to. |
For Step 1, instead of using Appslib, you can also choose to manually download and install the firmware, we are providing a link for you, together with the official Arnova Flashing procedure

This firmware is specific to the Arnova 10 G2 and should not be installed on other devices. WE WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR DEVICE. THIS FIRMWARE UPDATE IS USED AT YOUR OWN RISK. WE RECOMMEND TO FLASH THIS FIRMWARE ONLY IF YOU ARE ABLE TO RESCUE A BRICKED DEVICE USING ROCKCHIP FLASHING TOOLS. |
Step 2. Download and Install the Market Package
After the device has restarted following the firmware flash, follow the Arnova wizard to configure the tablet again, then setup the WIFI.
Go to Appslib again to download , Arctools like in Step 1, then start/open the application.
Download the Market package, the default selection (Default Apps & Market (Android 2.3)) should be kept, it will install latest Android Market 3.4.4
Press the Install button
Restart the device
Step 3. Android Market setup
Start Android Market and configure your Google Account
Step 4. Optional Market fix
In case the Android Market offers very few applications and a lot of them are missing, you can use the Market fix procedure, then restart the Market application.
This step is optional if no application are missing in the Market.
You will find the 4 steps of the installation procedure in the following video:
Limitations
This firmware is based on latest official firmware from Arnova, where we have pre-installed root access (if you need it) and Android Market. Being a very standard firmware, it has a limitation of offering only 200 Mb free for your Android applications to install. Most applications are using just a few megabytes, so that should let you install dozens of them.Root access on the tablet is limited in the sense the system is still read only (cramfs), so you won’t be able to make changes in the system files.
Troubleshooting
To be detailed later.Let us know how it works for you in our Arnova 10 G2 forum.
This firmware is Finless code free, guaranteed

WARNING WARNING….
Of course it is my fault and I was stupid doing this, but I only tried the flash because I did see that there was an unbrick tool. In my case and several other cases the unbrick doesn’t work. See the forum notes.
By the way: The flash went fine, and everything seemed to work. Only after a shutdown, the tablet got bricked.
Dik
Your device is probably not bricked, you should be able to recover it and flash a new firmware, please check Rockchip flashing tool.
Will this firmware work with the Arnova 10b G2 model?
No it won’t, you’ll need a specific firmware for the 10b G2, please check our forum:

Just to say I loaded this & it all works perfectly, thanks
Recently did this on my 4gb and it worked perfectly thank you
Hi, I’ve just completed stage one and seem to have lost the ability to connect to the internet. It scans for available wifi attempts to authenticate with the network before disabling it.
help please
thanks

All of this is for the Arnova 10G2 4gb tablets….So I used the EZ install with version kasty-ez_arn10g2-23-11 2 weeks ago and had absolutely no issues at all. Play Store worked great with all the apps. Today I am fixing my mothers tablet and I use version kasty-ez_arn10g2-23-111 and it initially bricked my tablet. Needless to say after many forum views and a few hours later, I was able to unbrick it and install kasty-ez_arn10g2-23-111. At first Play Store would only show 3-4 apps. I tried all the Market fix procedures and nothing worked. So I decided to go back to my original tablet that is working and I took the version from 2 weeks ago and substituted it on the tablet, used arctools to reset market and then one reset later…All apps are in the Play Store.
So to whomever changed the versions thinking it would help, Please Please Please change it back to kasty-ez_arn10g2-23-11 so others don’t run into the same trouble I did. I really appreciate the firmware and all the solutions found on this forum. You all rock!
Thanks for your feedback. We are in the process of updating our Kasty firmware to fix the different recent problems encountered with Google Play Store (former Android Market)
We’ll post an announce when our firmware updates are ready.
Firstly, thanks for doing all of this!
I’ve followed all of the steps successfully on my Arnova 10 G2, including the fix for missing apps in the Market Place. However, no app in the Market can be installed — every single one displays the message “Your device isn’t compatible with this item”.
Also, as an aside, a search for YouTube (as shown in the video) does not return any results for the official app.
Help!
You can either try the Market fix as show as the end of the video, or flash again (we have just released a new 1.11 update with latest Google Play Store/Android Market).
Hi, a few people have asked if this will work with the Arnova 10G2 4mb but no one has answered this yet. I would like to know the same thing. Thanks
I’m copying the answer here as a Blog post comment, as I am not sure you are checking our forum.
baalmoloch on our forum confirmed it’s working fine on a 4 Gb model.
I’m sorry i’m a newbie … is the arnova 10g2 4mb the same as the philly tablet … i’m weary about installing if the post says it only works on the 8gb model … please advise
Hi
I’ve just done this fix for my Arnova 10G2 4MB, and everything seemed to work fine.
However, if I ever actually use the Android Market to download an app, the download works great, but Market then immediately disappears again – and I’m back to square 1.
What have I done wrong? Why won’t this new firmware “stick”?
Your “Android Market” may have been upgraded to “Play Store”, which is the new product name of this Google app. Please check for Play Store in your application list.
Heya, Was looking to do this, however you locate the Arctools in the Market initially, My tablet has no access to Market at all, Which is what I’m trying to get.
Any further advice?
Many thanks, Nate.
I added this update to my new tablet and all worked fine, I had access to android market but there were very few apps in it. I followed the instructions but am now faced with ‘server error’ every time I try to access the market any ideas?
Try to “Reset Market” in Arctools (version 0.63 or later needed). Allow Superuser access to have the Market data file cleared (repeat 4 times). Then reboot immediately the tablet and restart the Market. It should be fine then.
Thanks that worked although still seem to have very few apps in the android market, should I try the market fix procedure again?
Just push the Empty data button for Market in the Applications Settings.
Then restart the Market.
Thanks that worked perfectly, thanks for the amazing support
Hi – please help!
I used the video above to install the market place on my Arnova 10 G2 8GB and it all worked fine.
However, i bought my son the same tablet and did exactly the same thing BUT at the final stage, the tablet won’t reboot.
I cannot turn it on now!!!
PLEASE HELP!!!!
Hello,
Even if the tablet does not boot anymore, you can use this tool to restore either the manufacturer’s firmware or our EZ firmware.
Thanks for all your work on this.
I’ve followed your instructions for flashing the firmware via arctool. the firmware file downloads, unpacks and I get the message to restart but restarting doesn’t do anything eg it’s not reflashed as everything is just as it was – wifi still on, no apps lost, etc.
any suggestions? the 10 g2 doesn’t have a restart.option so I’m just doing a shut down and then starting as normal.
Sometimes the tablet does not detect the new firmware to install. Can you try the procedure again ?
There is actually no restart option, this is done thru a Shutdown then powering up the tablet again.
You can also download the firmware from this page (see above) and follow Arnova procedure for firmware update.
The firmware has now updated ok. Just needed to wait a bit
but… the market install fails with errors 28 and 20… any suggestions?
TIA
The firmware has been recently updated to version 1.1 which now has Android Market installed. After flashing the firmware, you don’t need to reinstall Arctools and download/install Apps anymore, the Market should already be installed. The procedure from this article and the video will be updated soon to reflect those changes.
Doh! of course! it’s all perfect now and my tablet is now brilliant
Thanks again!
