Xda-developers.com forum user Letama has just started to port Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) to the Archos Gen8 device, specifically on the Archos 70 Internet Tablet (IT). As you can see on the video, this is a very early port, that seems to use OpenAos multiboot to start ICS.
This first alpha version comes with basic hardware support for 3D drivers and touchscreen, there is no WIFI or audio/video support yet. Letama mentions
Don’t expect much, I don’t have enough time to work on this to make significant progress quickly.
While this work is interesting and promising for developers, it is important to note that this custom firmware, in a similar way to UrukDroid on Archos Gen8, will not include Archos Video and Music player applications which use Archos own proprietary and unreleased code.
