Form factor, 4/3 screen ratio
Most Archos and Arnova products use a 16/9 or 16/10 aspect ratio for the screen, which is quite wide and very well suited for movies. The Arnova 8 G2, uses a 4/3 screen ratio on the screen, which gives better proportions on the width/height and makes it ideal for web browsing or e-book reading. The following picture show other devices with similar from factors, from top to bottom: Arnova 8 G2, Archos 80 G9, Arnova 84, Arnova 8.
The device case is made mainly of black colored plastic. The back of the tablet has a brilliant surface which easily catches fingerprints.
The front side of the device holds 6 hardware buttons: Back, Settings, Volume -, Volume +, Search and Home.
The side the tablet gets the Power button, the micro USB connector, the micro SDcard slot, the stereo ear connector, a reset button and a power LED. It is interesting to note that there is a plastic cover (not removable) of the size of an HDMI connector, but there is probably no plug behind it, and no HDMI output circuitry.
The speakers are located on the left side of the device, next to the camera. Considering their proximity, the channel separation for a stereo sound is probably not very good.
