The lack of Google Play (formerly Android Market) support on the Arnova 7f G3 7 inches Android 4.0 ICS tablet is one the biggest inconvenience, we are happy to bring you a solution. We built a custom firmware to add Google Play/Android Market and full root with read-write access to /system partition.

Arnova 7f G3 custom firmware features
- Clean installation of latest Google Play Store 3.5.15, no more missing apps (Twitter, Facebook…)
- Installation of other Google Apps (Gmail, Play Music, Google Search)
- Full root support with writable /system partition
- Root access is controlled thru SuperSU.apk 0.89 (free version), a cool upgrade to SuperUser.apk by XDA developer Chainfire
- Updated Rockchip loader to latest version (2.20)
Our custom firmware can be installed in two ways. The first method is the easiest and will let you have Google Play running in about 10 minutes. The second method erases all the data stored on the tablet, but uses a safer approach.
Arnova 7f G3 custom firmware install easy procedure
Please note that this flashing method is easy to run but includes the same risks as a regular firmware flash. If it goes wrong for some reason and bricks your tablet, the only way to recover it (if the hardware isn’t damaged) will be to use Rockchip Flashing tool. Please note this firmware install procedure keeps installed apps and data on the tablet.
Step 1. Download and install Arctools from Appslib.
| Run Appslib that can be found in the applications on your tablet. While in Appslib, search for “Arctools” application, you should get “ArcTools – Google Play / Android Market & Apps installer” in the list, download, install and run the application. | ![]() |
If you don’t have Appslib installed, you’ll need to download it from appslib.com servers.
Step 2. Download firmware
In Arctools, go to Firmware tab, select “Arnova 7f G3 custom firmware 0.42 EZ” (or more recent than 0.42 if there is one)![]() | Read the disclaimer in the application and press the checkbox if you agree with the conditions, then press the Download button. It should take about two minutes to complete the new firmware download. Restart the tablet when the program is inviting you to. |
Step 3. Flashing the firmware
After rebooting the tablet, a “Firmware updating” dialog will ask for confirmation to install the package (=flash the firmware) click Install button. The tablet will reboot and install the firmware.

Step 4. Setup Google Play
After a few minutes, your tablet will be updated with the custom firmware. Setup your Account on Google Play Store and enjoy !
You will find the 4 steps of the installation procedure in the following video.

Step 1. Arnova 7f G3 custom firmware download

Step 2. Install and run Rockchip Flashing tool
Please follow the Rockchip Flashing tool procedure: that will explain how to download Rockchip flashing tool, unpack the archive, put your device into flashing mode and flash the custom firmware file that you have unpacked in Step 1.
Step 3. Arnova 7f G3 flashing and restart
After Rockchip flasher has transferred the custom firmware to the tablet, the device will restart and install the firmware. Finally, you will be back to Arnova default startup wizard.
You will find the 3 easy steps of the installation procedure in the following video, see how to get Google Play and root to your Arnova 7f G3 in less than 10 minutes(video shows flashing an Arnova 10b G3, the flashing method for the Arnova 7f G3 is the same) .

the download link for manual flashing i think is broken or something
Hi guys, fantastic work used this just now and completely changed the device for the better
however I cant get angrybirds space or star wars to work…. app opens, screen goes black for transition and then nothing happens, same thing is happening on my arnova 9 g2 after the firmware update to ICS from here, original angry birds works fine but not the newer ones…. space used to work back on gingerbread on the 9 g2, can anyone suggest a fix?
I’ve got the exact same problem with angry birds space and starwars on my 9 g2. Couldn’t get it to work before or after updating to ics. Is it just a case of these tabs not being capable of running the app? I had a look at rovio’s advice and they say some android devices just aren’t powerful enough. I hope there’s some way to make it work, desperate to play!
I can get ABs space on my galaxy y with gingerbread but starwars is not compatable
AB Space used to work on mine before I did the ICS upgrade
Does this also work on the G3 7h?
Arnova 7f G3 only, sorry.
We may have something for the 7h G3 in the coming weeks.
Thank you very much! This is a great post!
This is fantastic info thanks, bought Arnova 7f G3 this weekend and was starting to get frustrated as could not access bbc iplayer, this firmware is brilliant and can now access everything I need to, has transformed tablet into a whole new device!!
Thank you very much
Hello,
I have downloaded and installed the new firmware through arctools. It is wonderful to have google play. Everything from googleplay that I have downloaded seems to work great, but the only apparent problem appears to be netflix. I downloaded netflix from googleplay and it comes up on the screen, but nothing it “touchable.” When I touch any one of the movies, nothing happens. It is as if the screen is suddenly inactive. Except the scroll feature still works on the screen. I can scroll and see the displayed movies, but I cannot do anything beyond that. Any help would be appreciated.
Kind Regards,

Hi Again,
I’ve uninstalled the flashplayer and installed the flashplayer from Google play and now flashplayer works well with Dolphin Browser and firefox.
Flashplayer doesn’t work anymore on the built in web browser but it doesn’t matter.
I have another question and it is about skype since I don’t know if the problem come from the tablet, the custom firmware, or MY tablet.
I’ve installed skype from appslib and even from google play, but in both cases, I cannot hear the voice of my interlocutor (video works for everyone, the other person can hear me).
The only way to hear sound was to use earphone.
Please let me know, if someone has the same problem and if there is a solution.
Thank you
king regards
URGENT PROBLEM
Hi,
I’ve just installed the custom firmware and the playstore works very well.
But since I have installed this custom firmware, the flashplayer doesn’t work anymore.
For me it is a big problem because I go on different websites where flasplayer is needed.
Before I could watch to them with no problem, now there is the logo of adobe flash player with the message “you need to install flash player …”
Notice that in the tablet, I can see that flash player 11 is installed.
Please let me know if there is a solution to my problem…
Thank you in advance,
best regards

Thanks Dave !
Ha, finally available!
One question though, do I need to remove the current Google Services Framework I had previously installed (wasn’t working correctly anyway, as I couldn’t download anything from the Market) or can I proceed directly with the first install procedure?
Cheers!
Don’t bother answering, download freeze at 15% when using arcatools so I’ll have to use Rockchip Flashing Tool.
please help i have followed the first procedure too step 3 but once it reboot i get a error message that says
E : Cant read(/mnt/sdcard/update.img)
(file exsists)
Can not found firware image or invalide image.
installation aborted.
please help
Please try to flash the firmware using the alternative flashing method on the article (uses Rockchip flashing tool).
I am trying to download this custom firmware update (0.42) as per step 2, but each time throughout the process the tablet will loose wi-fi connection (even though it is placed next to the router!). The download freezes (often at 34%) and will then time out.
I have tried this numerous times (turning all other wi-fi devices off) and it keeps failing.
If your Wi-FI connection doesn’t work well to download the firmware, you can always download the file from a PC and flash your tablet with Rockchip flasher.
