ARCHOS supplier page for the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair Autumn Edition is showing some details about the GamePad 2. Let’s have a look…
According to the page spec sheet, we can expect the following:
CPU: 1.6 GHz quad-core CPU and quad-core GPU (quite likely a Rockchip RK3188) RAM: 2GB Storage: 8GB or 16GB flash memory Screen: 7″ IPS capacitive touch-screen display with 1280 x 800 resolution Controls: Dual analog sticks, ARCHOS mapping tool so you can map some games (but not all) to the gamepad controls. connectivity:microSD card supporting up to 64GB capacity preloaded games:Asphalt 8: Airborne and Modern Combat 4 by Gameloft preloaded apps:Google Apps (Google Play, Google Maps, Google+, YouTube and Gmail) |
The 3D render of the device shows a design quite similar to the first GamePad, but we are used to some surprises with ARCHOS when we compare the actual product design with the rendered version 🙂
No details given about the battery capacity where battery life was one of the main issue of the first ARCHOS GamePad (you may also check our detailed review)
A reseller price of $169.99 is shown for a quantity of 500 pieces, so it’s quite likely to see the device in the 190 to 200 dollars or euro price range, given the usual distribution margins. A 4 weeks lead time may should get the product ready to acquire for Christmas 2013.
We should see more on the show, from 13 to 16th of October.

good, like psvita
I got one. Memory cards don’t work on it. Can’t move, rename or delete anything.
Interesting, which kind of memory card is it ? Does it work as read only ?
Cheers.

Unless they give more support than the first archos gamepad, I won’t buy it. The lack of firmware support in first archos is awful.
I totally agree with you about the lack of support, both for the firmware updates and source code (that is still not working)
